well the problem is in the third age folder, if you haven't modified anything try reinstalling it, the broken file is mods/Third_Age/data/descr_engine_skeleton.txt
and the problem in that file is at line 396, column 221
AnimDB: Could not load - 'data/animations/engine/Ram_V2_Idle.CAS'

Strange, if you run on vista it can have something to do with application data.

But anyway, here's mine. Move it to mods\third_age and rightclick, extract here and overwrite.

Did you get it to work?

It can be a small error in the installer, which makes some files incomplete.
Some people actually have had errors with the installer, mostly from filefront.

Well, it contains its own folder structure (I always do this)

If you put the zip-file itself in mods\third_age and "extract/unpack here" it unpacks a data-folder
that wants to overwrite the vanilla data folder and just choose "yes" when that question comes up.
Then it simply replace the old file.

One other way, extract the .zip-file move the data-folder it contained to
    medieval II total war\mods\third_age

Yah i just did that whole replacement thing and clicked yes to all, also the game still crashes in the same manner as before. Here is my log again.

I guess the error is stil in the same place, should i try to patch it again with the thing you uploaded?

I had exactly the same error now (after changing name off Ram_V2_Idle.CA).

    05:29:43.390 [script.err] [error] Script Error in mods/Third_Age/data/descr_engine_skeleton.txt, at line 396, column 221

05:29:43.953 [system.rpt] [error] Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.

I will upload another one and then it hopefully will be fixed, if not do the following:
Go to "Third_Age\data\animations\engine" count all files, exclude the folders

Do the same with this zip

Well your not going to like this, i did exactly the same thing with this zip file as the last one and it made the game crash even faster. If your next zip folder doesnt work should i just reinstall from a site other than filefront?

Yes it's a normal sign of that there is a lot of files missing, when it easily can read throught all animation
files it goes on, and if there is more errors, one more ctd.

What does the error log say this time?

This is what the log says:

22:39:35.234 [system.rpt] [error] Medieval 2: Total War encountered an unspecified error and will now exit.

So if you cant come up with a zip file for this i should reinstall?

Now to a new question, have you installed both Part 1 and Part 2 of Third age total war?

It seems that you are missing almost all animation.cas
But I uploaded all, you do the same with this one.

You're just a bit unluckier then me.
If there is any models missing I can't help you, it will require a very big upload,
so then I suggest you remove the third_age folder

Install Part 1 and install part 1 again, then install part 2 and install part 2 again,
do the same with the patches. It's just to make sure you get all files installed.

Here are all data-files, the last thing I will upload, if anything else is missing I think
there are hundreds of more things missing.

    You know what to do.

Same problem here. Tried all of the above with no luck. I run Vista Home Premium 64-bit. I purchased Medieval II Jingdoms gold in March from Steam and it currently runs under steam. Any idea what to do?
