I dont really like the Dwarven Desin in the Hobbit Movies. And I dont understand why they deviated from the perfectly established design palette in the old movies only to make new and wierder "fantastical" versions.

    Spoiler for Hobbit Design

    Spoiler for LotR design

So. The Witch-king was not a Nazgûl when in Angmar.
    ...
Do this make sense even within the films own universe?

Though I don't like it, I would say yes. Mainly because you added the part of "within the films own universe"
I think that for the people who have not read the books (which is the majority no doubt) this will work well. Even much of those who did read the books might not have retained much knowledge about Angmar and the exact nature of the Nazgûl

In the films universe, it does make sense because it mentions the witch King dying and being resurrected by the Necromancer

    Edit: Still idiotic

Actually... I did consider the fact that this is about the extended edition before writing what I did. However, since we probably never will know one way or the other, it will remain a matter of different opinions.

It was a terrible battle. The most dreadful of all Bilbo's experiences, and the one which at the time he hated most - which is to say it was the one he was most proud of, and most fond of recalling long afterwards, although he was quite unimportant in it. Actually I must say he put on his ring early in the business, and vanished from sight, if not from all danger. A magic ring of that sort is not a complete protection in a goblin charge, nor does it stop flying arrows and wild spears; but it does help in getting out of the way, and it prevents your head from being specially chosen for a sweeping stroke by a goblin swordsman.

Actually I seem to remember the battle being described in great detail for a Middle Earth battle.

Dwarves charges elves & Humans-> Gandalf appears -> Orcs and Wargs appears -> Batte commences -> Good side driven back -> Gobelins flank over the mountain & gains the high grounds -> Eagles appears -> Thorin and company appears clad in Mithril -> Thorin Dies -> Beorn Appears and kills Bolg and his bodyguards -> Wargs and Gobelins rout.

So would you like this version on the silver screen or "Bilbo is afraid and gets stone in head -> Battle over"

Okay the posters are finally getting a little bit Interesting, Thorin ones looks coolest while the Gandalf one is just a load of BS...

The question raised is non relevant IMO. As so eloquently stated in the above quote, both events are described in the book. There is no reason, other than what PJ thinks would work best, to not have Bilbo invisible and incapacitated early in the fight whilst still showing the full battle.
My remark was a comment on the very prominent depiction of supposedly "Bilbo ready to kick some Orc ass" on that particular poster.

Luckily the Hobbit movies tend to "slightly" deviate from the books so the amount of spoiling we can do is limited.

Yeah, hate to spoil a fifty year old books ending on forums full of people who generally have read the book. It's like, hate to spoil the ending of Valkyrie, but it fails and Hitler doesn't die in 1944.

A 45 minute end battle, Legolas better bring some more quivers.
