The Thick of It is a British comedy television series, which satirises the inner workings of modern British government. It was first broadcast on BBC Four in 2005, and has so far completed six half-hour episodes and two special hour-long episodes to coincide with Christmas and Gordon Brown's appointment as Prime Minister. To date, the series has earned Best New Comedy and Best Comedy Performer for Chris Langham at the 2005 British Comedy Awards, and won Best Situation Comedy and Best Comedy Performance, also for Langham (although Peter Capaldi was also nominated), at the 2006 BAFTAs.
The action centres on the fictitious Department of Social Affairs and Citizenship ("DoSAC" – previously the Department of Social Affairs, or "DSA", prior to the reshuffle of episode five), which supposedly came out of the Prime Minister's passing enthusiasm for "joined-up government". Thus, it acts as a "Super Department" overseeing many others, which enables different political themes to be dealt with in the programme, similar to the Department for Administrative Affairs in Yes Minister. Hugh Abbot, played by Chris Langham, is a blundering minister heading the department, who is continually trying to do his job under the watchful eye of Malcolm Tucker (Peter Capaldi), Number 10's highly aggressive and domineering "enforcer". The programme also features James Smith as Senior Special Adviser Glenn Cullen, who is not an MP, Chris Addison as Junior Policy Advisor Olly Reeder, and Joanna Scanlan as Civil Service Press Secretary Terri Coverley.

In the first batch of three episodes, Hugh Abbot is installed as a new minister following the forced resignation of his predecessor Cliff Lawton. These episodes follow his attempts to make a mark on the department by introducing new policies while following the party line enforced by Malcolm Tucker. Due to a series of complications and mistakes, this leads to the minister coming close to resignation on a number of occasions.
Basically let's share our verdicts, videos of Malcolm Tucker's exquisite swear rants, the future news of the new series, the movie version In the Loop etc. I'm yet to watch the X-mas specials or the In the Loop movie, will get onto them soon.

What I particularly liked about it is actually how real it is, and how natural. A lot of it is improvised, only a bit of it is actually written, the main story plots, but most of it is left to the Actors themselves to work out. That shows the good chemistry of the cast and their general skill. The whole natural feel is like Extras, but more of a sort of documentary style with no laughing track and hand held cameras. All in all it works brilliantly, it's so... British.... an American version was tried and failed, flat, although they are still trying. It would be interesting to see an American version and to see how crap it will be compared to the original British one.

Alright enough of that . Lets commence the videos, this series has one of those rare scenes which makes you laugh out loud every time you think of i even in passing, getting you dodgy looks on the bus The bit I'm talking about starts when a guy pops his head in and says about 50 seconds in... "Could you all just stop swearing please?" to which Malcolm replies ''Yes sure mate you won;t hear any more swearing from us.... ''.

Swearing;

If you want to watch it, the whole series is available on Youtube. *(Not sure if that breaks the ToS, if it does just remove it moderators)

PS. I KNOW CHRIS LANGHAM WAS DONE FOR DOWNLOADING INDECENT IMAGES BUT IT DOES NOT TAKE AWAY THE FACT THAT HE WAS A COMIC GENIUS AND PLAYED THE PART BRILLIANTLY IN THIS SERIES.
