When I played this mod I was amazed (although Spartan hippeis could be stronger than the Thebes Sacred Band) but otherwise I love it! Congrats on making this awesome mod!!!!

When did you become interested in politics?
The very instant I became old.
You stole the words outta my mouth.
We kinda wanna make the Spartans weak, so that the real heroes win... (was bribed to say that)
One of the TGW team...
I just do whatever needs doing! Sel does most of the work
Thanks!
This is a historical period when Spartans had just recently lost their status as best hoplites in Greece to the Theban Sacred Bandmen (in a very dramatic and bloody way), and this only lasted until the Sacred Band was wiped out at the Battle of Chaeroneia, in 338 BC, so it felt fair to make the Spartans second best, if only in this one Greek mod.
True. Mantinea, though Epaminondas died in the winning.
Game of the Fates
Mod of the week on hold -- I've played nearly every RTW mod out there.
BOYCOTT THE USE OF SMILEYS! (Okay, just once)
Antiochos VII...last true scion of the Seleucid dynasty...rest in peace, son of Hellas.
I've returned--please forgive my long absence.
Poor Epaminondas. He was one of the first persons (or maybe the first person) before Philip II of Macedon to unite Greece or die trying. Even if the Thebans couldn't rule Greece like one Theban nation, Greece would still be united like it was after the battle of Thermopylae.
Alexandros never united all of Greece, and certainly not in the long term.
Viva la Defenestrate!
Where Alexander is concerned... United? More like subjugated...
I hold Philip in much more high esteem over this point. The only thing I know where Alexander made something that affected greece was when he razed Thebes to the ground (I also think he made a league, but I'm not sure. Gotta get back to read again about that). Philip II was able to unite greece in political means as well, but Alexanader was a hell of a commander nonetheless.
Your'e right, good point.
Even so, I don't think Alexander could have held onto his possessions in Greece for much longer if he hadn't died at the convenient time he did. Greeks would have seen, especially as Alexander was heavily down the road of medizing by then, that he was just another foreign leader trying to invade the world, and they would have kicked his soldiers and puppet rulers out of Greece. Sure, they couldn't have defeated Alexander in battle, but since his new capital was at Ectabatana in Media anyway they wouldn't have had to fight him. Fortunately for Alexander, history has never allowed us to see what he would have been like as a peacetime leader, although I think he would probably have just kept invading places (Carthage was next on his list), much like Napoleon really.
By the way, the League you refer to was the League of Corinth, which I believe he reinstated, although he was also head of the Thessalian League.
