Thread: Reasons For NAT Negotiation Failure

Default Reasons For NAT Negotiation Failure

Some people may be encountering a problem when they try to join a game, and it has a pop up that says "NAT Negotiation Failed".
After asking for help on this problem with no good results, Ive recently discovered a few reasons why this error comes up and how to fix it. So I figured I would post this incase others were having this problem.

    1. P2P programs, and torrent programs can not only cause this but cause you to not be able to load the battle in multiplayer. Always close these programs down before attempting to play online.

2.Programs like Hamachi that create a separate network. No need to uninstall, just disable it. Do the following. In XP go to Start, Control Panel, Network Connections, and you should see the Hamachi Icon, right click and disable. In Vista: Go to Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet, Network and Sharing Center, and then Manage Network Connections, and do the same.

    3. Sometimes it just happens for (IMO) an unexplained reason, just restart the game, and ultimately you may need to reset your router.

    4. Check on port forward and make sure you have the necessary ports opened.

Hopefully This helps. Feel free to Sticky.

    Done all these:

Anyone got any idea how to fix this problem?

    Have tried this so far:
    Logging in/out
    Restarting game
Opening ports 27750 (as well ad Gamespy ports)
Setting MTW2 to allowed status on Firewall
    Disabling Firewall (hardware and software)
    Nothing like Hamatchi installed
    Restarting Router/PC

Hey. I have the similar error pop up, but I have realized I manage to join the lobby if I have hamachi. If I uninstall it, I cannot join the network at all, it's like it's offline.

I have tried everything except port forwarding, so could someone help me with that? I really have no experience with it and don't know where to start.

I was redirected to this thread by a moderator, here is the thread about my problem if you need a more detailed insight:
