Thread: A small teaser from the cold northern lands

Default A small teaser from the cold northern lands

I thought a small teaser was in order since I've started reworking the units after some time off modding.
At the moment we, the WotN team, have several modellers/skinners working on improving and remaking the units in our beloved mod. (This will not increase the time to release as work on the campaign stuff are being taken care of by other modders.)

Here's my latest addition, for your pleasure:

    Fátœkis-fölk
Armament: Seaxes/axes and 3 petty javelins
    Clothing: Linen
    Unit size: Huge
    Moral: Poor

Unit description: Fátœkis-fölk consists of poor people; farmers, fishermen and traders (people from the "Carl" Class) who has been levied in to the viking host. Not bred for war, these men tend to be survival oriented, running away when true warriors would stay and fight. They care little for the well being of their lord and less for his personal power, but will gladly defend their land if it is required of them.
They are armed with whatever implements that could come in handy (large knives and axes), a small wooden shield, and a few javelins. They are tactically flexible, fast moving, and can hide easily, but they should not be relied on to hold a crucial position.
It can be useful to summon a great host of men, regardless of their skill and experience, and sometimes a breach must be filled regardless of how long it will hold. Understand though, that Fátœkis-fölk will be slain, and quickly, if committed to more fierce foemen. On the other hand, such bloodshed comes at a good price.

"At morning dawn we will collect the peasants, and count heads.
The troop will be small for the surrounding space; but they will fight for life, and the others for scanty booty. "
    - Ingo

    Great work +rep
    Wanted for:
Breaking and gluing back together and trying to pass off as never being broken in the first place.
Assault with a weapon that couldn't have possibly been deadly, but unfortunately was

"You know what they say: give a man a fish, and he'll stink up the whole town. Give a man a fishing rod -- see where I'm going here? Give him a fishing rod and he'll poke your eye out."

Rep goes both ways, just leave your name

Maybe you could elaborate on how one would go about adding this "pixel shader" that's missing here? Anyways it's a free mod which is kinda like "Take it or leave it." If you expect more then maybe you yourself should add these missing features and not expect someone else to do it for you. Looks like the lazy part resides on you rather than the mod team.

Btw, this teaser is outdated and the unit in the current version of the mod looks completely different

yeeeaaah, the OP is from like 5 years ago....... dude.
“The hardest thing in the world is to assume the mood of a warrior. It is of no use to be sad and complain and feel justified in doing so, believing that someone is always doing something to us. Nobody is doing anything to anybody, much less to a warrior.” ― Don Juan
"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us the freedom to demonstrate. It is the soldier, who salutes the flag, who serves beneath the flag, and whose coffin is draped by the flag, who allows the protester to burn the flag." -- Father Dennis Edward O'Brien, USMC
