    Default some jazzbands?

So I've always been a hesitant fan of jazz. But because none of myfgriends like it and it's not really a very visible genre in mainstream I'm having a bit of trouble finding good bands/artists.

What I'm mostly interested is the more up tempo 'wild' sort of jazz (is that Freestyle jazz or fusion or whatever?

Basically I'm interested in finding a few good names in a genre I have zero knowledge of.
Some day I'll actually write all the reviews I keep promising...

    Up tempo?

I had a good suggestion for some slower, more moody stuff...but I do have a suggestion for more up tempo.

I can recommend you these: (A few classics, but mostly it is Fusion)

    Charles Mingus: Mingus Aah Uhm

John Coltrane: A Love Supreme, Coltrane, Blue Train

Miles Davis: Kind of Blue, In a Silent Way, Live/Evil, es Brew

    Herbie Hancock: Head Hunters, Thrust

John McLaughlin: Extrapolation, Friday Night in San Francisco (w/Paco De Lucia and Al Di Meola), Shakti (w/Shakti), A Handful of Beauty (w/Shakti), Natural Elements (w/Shakti)

John McLaughlin w/Mahavishnu Orchestra: The Inner Mounting Flame, Birds of Fire, The Lost Trident Sessions, Between Nothingness and Eternity, Visions of the Emerald Beyond, Apocalypse

Grant Green: Street Funk and Jazz Grooves, Live at Mozambique

    Carlos Santana: Lotus

You should also check out Frank Zappa if you haven't cause he does have lots off jazzy stuff, but then again he did everything.

Very nice thread by the way
