clouds from scratch (gimp)

Hello guys, In this tut I will show you how you can make pretty realistic clouds. Probably works for photoshop to, not sure though

Here's an example of these clouds

You start out creating a rough model for your cloud like this:

Then smudge the outside of the cloud, both smudge them outwards but also make some cove's by smudging from outside the cloud inwards. Here's what you wil get

Then inside the cloud make another piece which is just a little bit lighter and them smudge the outlines of the new piece you will get something like this

Then make the brush very light and make some small lines on the outer parts of the cloud like this

Then smudge them again

Then make more of these lines more further in the cloud in a bit "puffy" shape

Smudge again (just repeat this step untill you're happy with the cloud)

Take the eraser tool with a the fuzzy circle brush with an opacity of around 20%/30% and erase some littel pieces in the cloud

If this is the color you want you're finished here if you want a white cloud follow these steps

Desaturate

Then adjust the color curves to make the cloud more white and then you're finished

really good, can you try to do something similar for photoshop?

ps: you should save your images as .png for higher quality

thanks, normally I save as .png but it wasn't really nessecary here and it takes a hell of a time to upload 12.png's and I haven't got photoshop so I'm afraid I won't do a tut for that
