    Default 1547 Camapign (Empires)

This thread is for discussion and feedback of the 1547 campaign.

After their victory at the Battle of Mühlberg the Habsburgs now have considerable influence over the world. The Holy Roman Emperor, the king of Austria, the King of Spain are all members of this family and support it's ideals. However the Habsburgs still have two enemies which threaten Catholicism. The first is the Muslim Ottoman Empire, which has been expanding into Europe and will begin annexing the Austrian Habsburgs' land unless they're stopped. The second are the northern Protestant countries. To protect Catholicism it may be necessary to go to war with these countries to show them whose side God is really on.

What order did you install all of the patches? You have to install the descr_projectiles.txt last. That should fix it.

Huh, I'm Polish so I'll start from my country.
    1. Name
There wasn't Kingdom of Poland-Lithuania. In 1546 was Crown of Polish Kingdom and Grand Duchy of Lithuania(two ocuntries in personal union, and official name of country from first Jagiellon until partitions), if you really want to use union name it was Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth(but from 1569 and not official). Coat of Arms is wrong too http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Herb_Rzeczpospolitej_Obojga_Narodow_(Alex_K).svg
    2. Map
This one is ridiculous, look at map.
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...de/Irp1635.png
-Łódź was a small village with 700 citizens, and belongs to Poland(it is localised between Poznań and Warsaw)
-Where is Wilno? This town was second hearth of Res Publica and capital town of GDoL.
-CoPK had Gdansk - Royal Prussia was Polish Province, King of Poland was feudal overlord of Prussian Duchy Duke. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...oyal_Ducal.png (here is map) Of course, towns: Reval wasn't capital od Duchy of Prussia (Królewiec/Konigsberg was), and Mitau was city of Duchy of Curland not Prussia.
-Wineta - what the hell is that? It was legendary town, and I'm sure it wasn't exist in 1546.
-Pskov (almost) never was Lithuanian, or Polish. It was town of Tsardom of Russia
-Austria does not exist, it was part of HRE.

    Here is mine map.

Of course it is only first part of my opinion, about historical mistakes There is a lot of it in unit rooster I'll try to make opinion about them in the morning.

Fist of all, congratulations on the hell of a task you've taken on.
The 1543 is my favorite campaign, as it really adds something new and is not just another medieval spinoff of vanilla.

The only real problem I've encountered is that now, with the new map covering the whole world, Europe is just a little patch of dirt on the map. I know, I know, Europe IS small, but most of the factions are there, right next to each other, and there is barely enough room to swing a pike. Many factions start with just one settlement, so in the first 10 turns many of them disappear. And what really renders the game unplayable is that with so little room, the watchtowers, the mines, the forts, the mountains and one city every four squares, many battles start on a cliffside, with the units standing on a 89° angle; and you can forget about moving your artillery, if you have it. In some battles I can't even move my infantry AT ALL. This has not happened once or twice. In my campaign with Venice, all of my battles were like this. So it takes two hours to chase a miserable enemy skirmisher around the mountain with your exhausted, and just as miserable, pike militia.

So, may I suggest making some sort of "perspective" map of the world, with more land coverage for the densely populated areas and less on the almost empty ones? America, almost all of Africa, north of Asia...
In the original game the movement distance for ships crossing to America was diminished to represent the long distance, can something similar be done here, with actually smaller America-south Africa-north Asia but with less movement to represent they are actually big?

Or at least making the map flatter? Or taking out the watchtowers?

    Thank you.

My mistake, I thought the Polish-Lithuanian was the name of the country, rather than a series of unions Poland and Lithuania agreed to. I'll change the name to Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, though changing the symbol will be difficult because of the way the mod switches between factions.

    2. Map
This one is ridiculous, look at map.
    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...de/Irp1635.png
This was my first attempt at making a map. I mostly used regions from the 1230 map and often had trouble as I was trying to add a lot of regions into a much smaller area.

-Łódź was a small village with 700 citizens, and belongs to Poland(it is localised between Poznań and Warsaw)
I wasn't aware how small it was. I could replace it with Pozian, as you did on your map.

-Where is Wilno? This town was second hearth of Res Publica and capital town of GDoL.
I didn't know this. I'll add this town.

I'll change the ownership of Gdansk and move the Prussian capital to Konigsberg.

-Wineta - what the hell is that? It was legendary town, and I'm sure it wasn't exist in 1546.
I didn't know what this place was, I just added it because it was on a medival map. I'll remove it.

Though Wineta is apparently based on a real place. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vineta

-Pskov (almost) never was Lithuanian, or Polish. It was town of Tsardom of Russia
    My mistake.

-Austria does not exist, it was part of HRE.
I know it was part of the HRE but I was trying to separate the Habsburg controlled parts of the HRE from the non-Habsburgs HRE to represent the extent of the Habsburg's control. The HRE is difficult to represent as it was split into many small states, which the Emperor has no control over and the Habsburg controlled lands which he ruled directly.

    Here is mine map.
Okay, I'll try to update my map so it looks more like this. One problem is that I can't add any more regions, so which port is more important Riga or Gdansk?

Of course it is only first part of my opinion, about historical mistakes There is a lot of it in unit rooster I'll try to make opinion about them in the morning.
Please do post your information about the unit roster. I'm always trying to make my mod more accurate.

I think that M2TW has a problem with cities that are on high ground (it seems automatically put them on a lowest point). I plan to reduce the high of the map to see if this fixes this problem.

Only the sea can be modified so that it takes onger to move across it. While I could reduce the amount of sea and make the map bigger this would require me to change the start position of every unit and resource so that they're in the right place. As this would be a lot of work I'm reluctant to make the map bigger.

Though I will try to make the map flatter.

I know, that's why ETW has two maps
I wasn't aware how small it was. I could replace it with Pozian, as you did on your map.
    Poznań. Good idea.

Real or not, who knows, only old scripts are talking about that. Better rename it to Stettin.
Yeah, I know Btw Austrian map is wrong too :p
Okay, I'll try to update my map so it looks more like this. One problem is that I can't add any more regions, so which port is more important Riga or Gdansk
I think Gdańsk, It was strategical city for CoPK(sea) and HRE(bridge to DoP), there were almost all time war for Gdansk(like after IWW when Gdansk was free city, so doesn't belong to Poland and Weimar Republic).
Please do post your information about the unit roster. I'm always trying to make my mod more accurate.
Here is AoR, right? And is there any limit of units? Because XVI in PLC it's time of ending feudal system, and start of nobles republic, so king hadn't too much own army(besides own guard and few banners of infantry). Most of them came from magnates(btw some Commonwealth magnates were more rich than ex. king of France), so I think some part of units(like feudal knights) need only name change to ex. Radziwiłł's banner, and copy in few cities with other family name, but some of them like Druzhina came from patriarchy system, so from about IX-XI
I need more work than map b/c own battle doesn't work good, so ill try to make my suggestions tommorrow or in thursday after few houres of play and XVI isn't my favourite time(I like more XVII and XVIII) so I need to read more about army in that time.

It's still too far to the east. The green spot would actually be better place for Kosice. Maybe replace Olomouc with Vienna, and Vienna with Innsbruck? It would clean up the map a little.

Would it be possible to remove the lines around reigions ( Like ETW had done ) ? Because all the European factions, unless they get colonies or control Europe, look tiny. And hard to make out what on eis what.

If you want unanime you can remove "Sarkel" city in your 1546 game map because after Mongol and Russian wars,Sarkel became a ruined city and faded into the history.Ottomans had never used that city.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sarkel

After removing Sarkel you can do these things.
1-You can add "Astrakhan" city . (The owner is rebels.(Astrakhan Khanate-Russian conquered that city in 1556))http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrakhan_Khanate
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Astrakhan

2-Or instead of that city you can add "Tunis" in your game map.(the owner is a vassal of Spanish Empire at that time (Hafsid Dynasty)
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tunis

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conquest_of_Tunis
Later Ottoman Empire captured "Tunis" again in 1574
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capture_of_Tunis

3-Or you can add other city that you want, instead of "Sarkel". Thank you very much for your help.

I love this campaign, the map is awesome.

But Reval (called Tallinn these days) needs to be moved to the right spot, as it's in Estonia. I think it's controlled by the Prussians at this time, 1561 it becomes part of the Swedish kingdom though.
