    no, it is not that simple because GrumpyBean wants to creat a custom
    map not a historical battle. (like you can see on his screenshot).

    but there is no way to set and/or edit the deloyment areas for a custom map.
    you simply have to edit the center of your battlefield because deployment areas
    in custom maps are always like in the screenshot - in the center area of the map.

    Very useful tutorial, thank you, and +rep. Everything is pretty straightforward once in the editor, however, I have two questions that hopefully someone can help me with:

    (1) If I try to pick a set of co-ordinates on the TATW map, and then press "next" to go into the editor, it simply loads then returns to the main menu, the only way I can start editing a map is if I load a MTW2 map from "Load previous battle"

    (2) Is there anyway to manually input the X and Y co-ordinates once in the editor? As I said in (1), I have to load a MTW2 map to get into the editor, yet it simply takes the MTW2 co-ordinates and applies them to the TATW map - so w/ some maps I end up in say, Mordor, and others in the middle of the Sea.

    I apologize if the questions are a bit confusing, I'll try to reiterate if you'd like, but any insight would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance chaps.


    EDIT: Well, I got it working , I find its a shame that theres no way to have a "named character" acting as reinforcements, but ah well. One more question for you all, is it possible to change the general model? For example, to change an orc-general to a Nazgul, without having to change the game overall?

    nice work man but i have one question. i got the editor to work for M2TW but cant get it to work in the mod. i did everything but still wont work.

    I may be able to help -- when you select a location on the map and then click next, does it just return to the main menu? If its been doing that, I can help you fix it, otherwise, no dice.

    well the TATW CFG file already has this in it.

    I think all i need is too enable it or something.but what way does it work? is it something like this..

    No, that's not necessary. Try loading a map on the editor (Go to "Previous Battles", you will see a list of Vanilla MTW2 battles, load one of your choice), then saving that map (as whatever you wish, shouldn't matter). Exit the game, then go about your business on the Editor regularly. If it worked, you can select a point on the map and go to it without it resetting to the menu. Its what I did and its been working ever since.

    Well I tried to recreate the Pelenor Fields but as soon as I clicked on it, it went black and I had to alt f4 out of it. Here is the descr_battle: I might have figured out my error right now, so please dont relpy to this until I reedit (so as not to waste anyones time) nope didnt work. I edited one tiny bit (comma after Faramir, named character) but didnt work.
    Might work now cause I changed a few things but I have to go. So I cant test till next weekend.

    and yes - there are too many characters involved in your battle.
    you can deploy max 8 armies. everything over 8 will cause the
    game to crash. and remember that all character names has to be
    listed in the factions name list - no matter if they are defined as
    named_character or whatever.

    very good tutorial. i have tried to create the siege of dol guldur, using the FROME submod and everything works like a charm, but i have one problem. i added reinforcements, but in the actual battle they are there for the very start and do nothing. please help because i' ve tried everything and i think i wiil go mad.

    strange, because your reinforcing army should appear on the battlefield after 7 minutes. well i just changed the reinforcement assignment but nothing else. btw, what do you want the reinforcements to do? add them to another army or fight on their own?

    i want them to fight on their own. anyway, they are different factions, so they can't be added, can they? i couldn't find anything myself but i think i'll abandon the whole project. after having tried virtually everything, i think i'll go nuts. thanks anyway.

    okay than i dont know what to do, since my battles work with reinforcement
    armies that fight on their own. have a look at my Helms Deep Battle, where i have
    three reinforcing armies - some fight on their own and some are added to the players
    stack, which depends on the faction you play.

    funny. actually, after i realised sth was wrong with my battle, i used that particular battle's script to compare with my own. seem's alright. anyway, i'll propably return to it after a while, just to be mad again at my failure . thanks again
