Amazing job with the animations! Any other cool anims you planning to make? Oh and of course +rep

My mod is in a mod folder, would I be able to use the archer animations in such a folder? Or does this require I add them to the default Medieval II data folder?

I am quite interested in adding this, it looks great.

    I'm wondering the same thing.

Currently I've put the animations in the default M2TW/data/animation folder and that works, but when we release our mod we want all the modded files to stay within the mod folder. Is this possible?

Wow, there you're just away a few days and then you find an Internet Cafe and then this guy blows you away with war wagons.

    Damn man, that's awesome!
As I did with the bowstrings, I'll take them and give credit!

I would suggest you all go and play the latest version of Lithuania Mod to see the war wagons, bowstring and crossbow animations in action. Also to see how to implement these things. Also, some units will be decapitated in the mod - e.g. clergymen.

Well I do have to say you've come through really well here Banzai.. The slingers and archers work really well. I plan to fix the archer anims so that the arrows rest on the top of the shooter's hand, and not in the air, and I'll put it up here when I do so.

"If ye love wealth greater than liberty,
the tranquility of servitude greater than
the animating contest for freedom, go
home from us in peace. We seek not
your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
down and lick the hand that feeds you,
and may posterity forget that ye were
    our countrymen."

I am quite interested in adding this, it looks great.
Every single component of Med2 is mod-folderable, and this includes animations too. You don't have to make any changes to the vanilla animations folder.

Um, I've got a very basic question, the answer to which I probably missed somewhere in this thread: what do I do with the files once I've downloaded them? They seem to be in some sort of .7z format which I've no idea how to open...

.7z files need to be opened with 7-Zip(don't worry , it's free)

Archives of all kinds can be opened with WinRAR, so I recommend that as a one-stop shop for all sorts of archiving.

Thanks for the help guys, I got it up and running, but now I have a more in-depth problem. I rigged a crossbow unit with the string animation and it works dandy, except when it gets into close combat. I assigned their secondary weapons to their right hands as per the example files, but now the soldiers don't fight in melee at all, they just stand there taking hits but never hit back with their sword. Occasionally they will push with their shield, but simply don't put their swords to any use. What's going wrong? Is this some skeleton or animation issue?

Edit: Ok, I tinkered a bit and apparently the issue arises when you use
    Code:
    25 MTW2_Fast_Crossbow_String
    14 MTW2_Swordsman
    2
    21 MTW2_Crossbow_Primary
    14 fs_test_shield
    2
    18 MTW2_Sword_Primary
    14 fs_test_shield
whereas if you use the shieldless animation
    Code:
    25 MTW2_Fast_Crossbow_String
    20 MTW2_Non_Shield_Fast
    1
    21 MTW2_Crossbow_Primary
    1
    18 MTW2_Sword_Primary
it seems to work without problems. A bit strange considering one of the examples uses a mace in a similar way. Is there some way to get it to work?

    Edit 2:
Ok, never mind. It seems the problem lies solely with M2TW_Swordsman. I'll have to check it out more closely.

    Edit 3:
So apparently the pack includes some new animations for the swordsmen which were making them act screwy for some reason. I restored the vanilla animations and they work fine now.

I've noticed the same thing but I don't know how to restore vanilla animations for some units and use Banzai's for others.
For me it's not only the swordsmen - but also the spearmen attack animation that won't run, rendering all swordmen and spearmen in the mod useless.

UPDATE: Problem solved by replacing the swordman and spearman entries in descr_skeleton.txt file with the vanilla ones.

After putting the files in the core M2TW/animation folder and doing the rest of the steps in the guide you will create new files in your own mod's animation folder and do not need the entries in the core M2TW/animation folder anymore.
