Default Update! - Animated Bowstring, War Wagon and Decapitations Animations Pack

    Banzai!'s Animations Pack
    Including:
    Animated Bowstring

I have made an animated bowstring and arrow animation, which I'm releasing here. My work thread can be found here http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=276914. Bowstring is animated and arrow will appear while the archer is shooting.

Includes bowstring horse archer animations and elephant archer skeleton definitions. Upload includes detailed documentation, with examples.

    Animated Crossbow

Fully animated crossbow: bolt, string and mechanism animated.

    Decapitation
A new fatality animation will see your mighty zweihanders and nordic axemen decapitate their foes! Animation uses no new bones. Before a victim unit can be decapitated some edits to the model must be made (to create the cutoff point). Otherwise the unit will die normally (with his head attached).

    Hussite Warwagon

Hussite war wagon, based off Bwian's chariots.

Whoops lol arrows should be bigger. I'll add a hotfix with the needed .cas files.

No, the forum is off at the moment due to technical reasons.

Thanks Banzai! This is really a great resource for all mods and modders!

I hope that I'm able to include your animated bowstrings into TATW soon.

Besides, I have question: Do you know how these 3 extra bones for the bowstrings do affect the performance of the game?
I could imagine that it has quite a big impact.

EDIT: one more question: I have some problems to texture the arrow properly, is there any hint you could give me?

@Banzai: I always prefer asking, though. I think it's a matter of politeness.

Banzai: I've put in the bowstring and arrow animation for longbowmen, and it works excellent. Nice work!

One problem I have though is when I engage the bowmen unit (with your animation) in melee something screwy happens to the hidden arrow and it seems to stretch out weirdly behind the bowmen:

EDIT: Are there anyone else experiencing this problem or could suggest what I might be doing wrong? (my guess is that there is something wrong with the animation when using the secondary weapon. By the looks of it my guess would be that the string bone on the right hand is doing something weird...?)

    EDIT 2: Pictures removed

    @Ulfhednin

I get the same problem that the arrow stretches out in melee.
Hopefully Banzai has an idea how to fix that.

You must make the arrow + bow part of the primaryactive0 group. That way it disappears in melee.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one having this problem
Also I have the same problem (as you can see on the pictures) with skinning the arrows, but with some moving around on the mapping it should be alright.

Thanks! (both me and Kong are very happy now)
Come to think of it - it's such an obvious fix, but I'm new to messing around with animations

Possibly, although I don't think I will have an arrow appear for the crossbow animation. I agree watching the crossbow string slowly get wound back could be quite cool.

I like the windlass - could make an animation variant for the arbalest

Hmm a problem, got a CTD.

I add the MTW2_Longbowman_String skeleton to my mod, and move the entire /animations/MTW2_Longbowman_string folder. The animation packs rebuild without an error.

Then I move either one of the two .MESH files to the appropriate folder, and point the .modeldb to it and to the skeleton.

The game loads without a problem, meaning all the references are correct. But when I start the battle I get a CTD. Are you sure the specified MESHes work in the game?

the tranquility of servitude greater than
the animating contest for freedom, go
home from us in peace. We seek not
your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch
down and lick the hand that feeds you,
and may posterity forget that ye were
    our countrymen."

I didn't use his .MESH files but rather merged Banzai's SKELMERGE files with an already existing bowman unit ingame. After some trial and error work (I'm new to animations and skeleton altering) I got it working, and at no time did I get a CTD when starting a battle.
