Hey, just installed Roma Surrectum. It seems like a nice mod. I did everything right, but in battle the minimap flashes violently (black). Why is this? I installed the mod over Rome: Total War Gold edition in Steam. Could this be related?

I know of one other player who has installed RS1.5 using a Steam install.....it wasn't pretty. I don't know if he ever got it working right.

I doubt you will mate. Steam kinda checks files to see if its the right one as a precautionary measure against piracy, when it realises its not the same as u got from them...it'll play up.
The mod actually works good with a Steam install, if you know how to install it. I found help here:

And the solution was: turn off Catalyst AI.
What graphics card are you using?

you install exactly the same as any other mod you would install for any other game only the directory should be different.
C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common = that is where all games unrelated to SOURCE ENGINE go, medieval 2, rome total war gold WHAT EVER game it is that isnt half life related. Then just install like normal. Kind of off topic from the original post but there ya go.
Btw i have modded medieval 2 many times on steam as i have also done with rome total war, no problems what so ever.
Me too.
Rome doesn't seem to like the Catalyst AI option... The flashing seems to be related somehow. Switch it off, and the flashing should go away, but you will lose the benefit of the second GPU core. Personally, I leave it on as I prefer having slightly better performance.
Try switching the option off in the catalyst control manager and let me know if it does anything.

STEAM sucks for anything other than STEAM-hosted mods.
I like pie.
