    Default All hail Armenia!!

    Intro

Levon was looking around to see who he recognized; it had been a while since he had been at the court. The last time was when his uncle Mhleh was driven outside out. Mleh had taken the command after his father had passed away. But both of the brothers worked together and claimed back what was theirs. It has been five years now since they retook Sis and Mleh fled to Vakhe. Two years of bloody war it took to defeat him but it was worth it. Now Hayastan was ready to expand its borders and influence.
At the court room there were many nobles not all of them were Armenian there were some Turkish and Roman nobles standing there. They were easily to spot they were the ones with the funny clothes and talking only to each other. The Romans were look at the Turks with much hate and the Turks were looking back with the same hate.

Ruben entered the room looking at the nobles and behind him was the old man Hayk. No one knew how old he was. Some say that he was the one who taught the old king, but he was also the one who learned the two brothers most of the things they knew. And he has also taught them that these mountains weren’t their home. Their home is where Ararat was and were the mighty cities o their ancestors stood.

Levon saw his brother and old teacher coming inside the room surrounded by the royal guard. The king went and sat on his throne and glanced over the room. Levon walked to the side of the king where his pace was and there was no noise inside the room. They all looked at their king. The factions of Armenian were divided like this you had the old guard the people who had fought next to Mleh but were not killed after the war, there were many who taught they were loyal to him and not the king. Then you had the new guard loyal noble men, they were the young blood of the kingdom. Most of them had lost their father when they were fighting next to the king against Mleh and they were very loyal to the king and the royal family. The third faction was the Roman they had stayed neutral in the last civil war. They were being influenced by the emperor in the eternal city. They would rebel against the king if the Romans ever decided to attack. And the fourth faction were the Turkish nobles they were the same as the Romans, they were being very much influenced by the Turks and were not very loyal to the royal house.
Levon stood up to speak he looked at the nobles standing before him and at the royal guard placed very carefully. “Welcome noble men of Hayastan you are here today to help me decide what the course of the nation will be. Will the royal guard open the back door and let the new guests come inside.” The doors were opened and some young men entered the room, the sons of the old guard. “Men arrest the scum who dare to betray our nation and execute the right here.” Half of the old guard was killed that day and their sons took their place. “This is the fate that awaits anyone who dares to betray our kingdom. We need to be united to defeat our enemies. The glorious armies of Hayastan will march and conquer those rebel scums who dared to break away from our kingdom during the civil war. They will pay for their crimes. All Hail Armenia!!!” And most of the nobles started to scream all hail Armenia! The king knew that he had the support of the nobles to take over those rebels who broke away but he had to do it very quickly and not hesitate or the other powers in the regions would take those settlements. And he also knew that the way to Hayastan was coming closer and closer with every step he took.

"Therefore I am not in favour of raising any dogmatic banner. On the contrary, we must try to help the dogmatists to clarify their propositions for themselves. Thus, communism, in particular, is a dogmatic abstraction; in which connection, however, I am not thinking of some imaginary and possible communism, but actually existing communism as taught by Cabet, Dézamy, Weitling, etc. This communism is itself only a special expression of the humanistic principle, an expression which is still infected by its antithesis – the private system. Hence the abolition of private property and communism are by no means identical, and it is not accidental but inevitable that communism has seen other socialist doctrines – such as those of Fourier, Proudhon, etc. – arising to confront it because it is itself only a special, one-sided realisation of the socialist principle."

    Chapter 1

After the cheering had calmed down a little bit Ruben, Levon and Hayk left the throne room and went to the king’s private working room. “Levon how is the statues of the army? When do you think you can take Karaman for me?” Ruben asked before the door was closed behind them. Levon was surprised that his brother wanted to move this fast against the rebels. “The army is strong and ready to strike where they are needed. We have new recruits from the cities and there are also the veterans from the last war. Is it wise to strike at Karaman first? I thought we were going to take Vakha before moving against the rest of the rebels.” Ruben started to laugh, “Levon do you hate our uncle this much that you want him dead as fast as possible? No he can wait; he is no threat any more against the country. We are taking Karaman because we need a fortress at the border. If the Turks take it before we do we will be in a lot of problems. That’s why Karaman can’t wait.” Levon was surprised that his brother thought of that instead of him, he had always been the one who thought the best strategic options. “How could I’ve forgotten the Turks? They are the biggest threat to our kingdom right now, them and those uptight Romans. Do they really think that we don’t know that they were the ones supporting Mleh. And do they think that they will get away with that kind of behavior?! “Ruben looked at his brother and he was amused “Calm down, they will pay for their acts but they can wait as well. And did you now Mher was back in the country? What can we expect from him? The only thing I know about him is that he was a loyal general under our father and that he comes from the homeland. There are rumors he’s from Ani. Hayk what do you think?” The old man stands up, “I knew he would be back, he went away when Mleh took power. He knew there was going to be a civil war; the last thing he told me was that he wouldn’t choose a side. He wouldn’t fight against Armenians. That’s why he left the kingdom, but I don’t know what we can expect now from him. The only person who knew him was your father.”

Ruben stood up and called him back to the throne room where the noble were still standing. “Nobles of Armenia next to me stands Levon, my brother and heir to the throne of Hayastan. But from today on he will be also the Sparapet, from today all armies will answer to him. The only one higher to him in this kingdom and this world is me. All hail Armenia and Sparapet Levon. I hope his career will only see victories and never there will be defeat on his path.” After the king was done the nobles started to scream “All hail Armenia!”

The nobles left after a banquet and things went back to normal, Levon went to his army camp to prepare the army and the upcoming campaign. Ruben send a diplomat to the Turks to start the trade between the two countries, he knew that there was need for gold to train the armies needed to punish the Turks for their action against Armenia. Hayk went to teach the royal children like has ben doing for a very long time.

A year later the Armenian army was standing near the gates of Karaman. Levon looked at the castle the last time he had seen the castle was back when he was a teenager, he was riding next to his father all of the gates were open people were throwing flowers. But this time the gates were closed and the only thing he could see were soldiers stationed on the walls. Levon saw that there was a delegation to see him. “I give you this one chance to open the walls and surrender and no one will be harmed. The soldiers can return to their families and the nobles won’t be punished for the rebellion against their king. Those are the terms of the Hay Takavor and his Sparapet. What is your answer?” The delegation looked at him and started laughing. “Boy, go back and take your army with you or no one will leave this place. And who does your brother think he is. He is no king here. And the gates will stay closed.” And now it was Levon who was laughing “This was what I wanted to hear from you. But let me tell me you that your solders will all die the city will be plundered. This is the fate that awaits all who dare to defy Armenia and its army. All Hail Armenia!” And he went back to its camp.

It took 6 months till the army was ready to attack the walls; the first wave consisted of four different attacks against the wall. There were some problems, the towers caught fire and burned down to the ground. But the ladders reached the wall and the soldiers climbed the ladders and fight for the wall started. At first the Turkish soldiers started to flee and they let the soldiers get a foothold on the wall and with that the battle was decided. After a few hours of battle the gates were taken and Levon wrote in to take part of the fighting going on. When he entered through the gate the soldiers screamed “All hail Hayastan!” and they started to fight like demons. Levon caught some fleeing soldiers and captured them. He reached the castle square soon and started to fight against the cavalry stationed there and soon his knights and veterans of the past war joined in the fighting. It didn’t take long till the enemy was defeated. And the castle was Armenian once again. Levon kept his word all of the soldiers who didn’t flee were killed no one was spared and the castle was sacked.
