Default New CTD, everything was fine yesterday

Since having my harddrive reformatted a few weeks ago, everything has been running fine. I have played part of a Rome campaign (about 20-25 battles) without incident. Then today, my first battle froze, and the second one ctd. Only a couple of things have changed since yesterday. I changed the internal clock from August 15th to June 15th (I'm not sure why it was on the wrong month). AVG anti virus loaded some updates, as did Windows update. I have scanned for viruses using AVG and spyware with Adaware, but found nothing.

My money is on the Windows update, but I really don't know. If it is the Windows update, is there some way of removing the last update (or should I even remove the last update).

    Any thoughts?
