Default Watching movies with the wife or girlfriend

Do you people adjust to your girlfriends or wives needs when you decide to go watch a movie?

In order to please her, or to avoid conflict?

I have a girlfriend who tends to react to allmost anything she doesn't like with anger, it's usually her initial reaction to allmost any situation that doesn't imediately pleases her.

Now then one day we where watching a harry potter movie and she got confused by the time travel concept in that movie, and our first ever fight was because of me trying to explain and her not understanding and getting angry, so I try to avoid movies that may confuse her, I also have to avoid anything with open endings that you have to interpret, sad endings, and cliffhanger endings

    how about you guys?

eh, we usually have the same tastes...but when we don't...we're aware of it.

She made fun of The Mummy Returns and I made fun of Step Up 2 and we got on fine

My wife and I have the same interests, so we rarely have this problem.

We have different taste in many movies but she does like some movies I like.

The problem is she has a certain idea of what an ending is and that is: Everything is well, nobody is hurt or sad of the "good guys", there no unanswered question.

I don't have a girlfriend, so it's not really a problem for me.

The 11 year old chained to my radiator is immature like that too but I have the remote control so she has just got to deal with it.

Avoid it at all costs!!! I tried hard over the years, but a big fight over Pride and Prejudice took it home.

Nah I bought her from a friend.

Hmmm -- chained to the radiator????

I just have too many remotes (a computer hook up as well as two dvd players and the sound system). We pretty much watch what we both like, but she does not start the system so all ties break in my favor.

She is fine until the computer hook up is needed. I keep a selection of our purchased dvd's on the hard drive and then delete when watched. It is an easy que. I also have the cd files (plus some LP's digitized) all up to transfer as needed to the portable media players.

Sorry I dont really mean to be cruel but if you have a gf confused by Harry Potter.....Harry Potter for crying outloud then maybe her issues arent movies Seriously angry over a movie if it has a sad, open ending or overly complex? Rent a copy of Bridge to Terabithia, My Girl, No country for old men and Apoc Now As far as my wife she tolerates my Star Trek and horror movies and I tolerate her "chick flicks" thankfully we both have similar taste when it comes to drama type movies.

We just watch prons. Every ending is a happy ending. No probs.
Dunno even with porn it can be open ended, can anyone say ANYONE was happy with Two Girls, One cup? The viewers, the girls, th camera man...or the damn cup. I think everyone loses out there.

Both my wife and I have a pretty wide range of taste in movies and TV so we have a fair amount of overlap and can usually find something we are likely to enjoy together. For something like a movie rental or going to a show we usually try to pick something we both think we will enjoy. But with the DVR there is a fair amount each of us taping out own stuff and watching alone ( I don't have to watch Project Runway and she doesn't have to watch The Wild Bunch).
