Default Is This A Typical Campaign Start

I recently started a Campaign as the Prussians on VH/VH and I am only at 1705. I am at war with Poland and Austria, I took that one piece of territory in between my two starting regions from Poland, I crushed Saxony and now I am tearing through Austria. Not once has a large foreign army tried to invade me and I have been largely uncontested. Austria in particular is fighting other wars, and Sweden is finishing off Denmark, but I do no see any imminent threat.

Also in the one pitched battle that I have fought against Saxony they charged me for melee with their militia whereas I was expecting them to sit and shoot for a bit.

I have heard that on VH the CAI is very aggressive, I am wondering are these typical campaign starts? Am I just getting lucky? Or is it just because I am very early into the campaign and my day of reckoning is coming?

I'd say your day of reckoning is coming once you hit britain, france, spain the turks, persia, russia etc. A bit of luck early on means hell later on. The other nations will have breathing room since the ones you're involved with are so occupied with eachother. Those other nations will build up full stacks and without using them until you or someone else goes to declare war on them.

all through these forums you see people complain that the AI is too aggresive, and that they want CA to fix it,now you turn up wuth the opposite, i too find the game balanced,so how on earth CA is supposed to fix something like this,im sure it is linked to what you do during game play, like what tech you choose first,i am guessing but if you play on vh or h the campaign AI might be more agrresive if you stated teching up military first,i never even bother with an army untill my economy is up and running , i just secure my boarders.

The campaign even on VH isnt that hard. The Ai is always weaker and more stupid. As long as you don't declare too many wars or try taking on 6 ennemies at a time. You'll do fine!

It seems common enough when facing PLC and Austria with Prussia to face a lack of large scale counter attack. I have found usually they are also at wor with each other and the Ottomans, sometime the Swedish and Russia too. So they are spread fairly thin

On my last Prussian campaign with Imperial Splendour - my war with Austria was a sequence of massive clashes with at first 1.5, then 2.5, then 4 full stacks on the Austrian side vs my 1.5, then 2, and lastly 2.5 stacks behind forts and defenses - on the 3rd war that border was between Prague and Vienna.... dunno about vanilla but if you want huge wars where the enemy has stacks as good as you do and probably quite a few more of them, with much less money with which to counter them, then Imperial Splendour is good

Would suggest you carry on for quite a bit further into your current campaign either way though, as the AI does generally take the logical option of building itself up prior to resorting to all out warfare... again, atleast for IS

P.S: that campaign was back on vanilla patch 1.2 + IS, TROMfx, Ultimate artillery mod

Sounds very normal for a Prussian Campaign

Am i the only one that doesen't think the AI is too peaceful? Sure, they could be more active in war and be sure they have the units to fight it before they declare (I've had experience with both since 1.3), but they still seem to declare a tad more often than I think is appropriate. At least they seem to go for objective regions.

Try playing Ottomans with Imperial Splendour. On h/h I have Austria,Russia,Georgia.Persia and sometimes Poland attacking me.It's taken hours just to get to 1705 on 3 tpy and I only managed to capture Crimea. At least with those mid European countries the regions are close together.Ottomans have to march or transport half way across the map sometimes.Still like them the best.

That's why as Prussia I don't bother declaring war; I know someone will declare war on me eventually so I spend the first few turns raking in as much cash as possible.

On N/N (vanilla 1.3) my Ottoman campaign I have war with every single nation with which I share a border by start 1703.

That's Venice, Austria, Poland, Russia, Georgia and Persia.
