    Default Help in combing .locs

Hey Im using Ledegrahams stellar faction specific drummers, and the loc file is overwriting that of Ape's
The adviser box is empty instead of its usual stats -however the string still runs and recruitment, costs are the same

Is there a simpler way ofcombing loc then going though the hole line looking for the files I need ?

The easiest way is to extract both to tsv, open both in two different Excel or Calc sheets and copy one ENTIRE loc into the other -- then use the remove duplicate function in the spreadsheet program.

Once you have the file edited to remove duplicates just save it -- tell it yes to keep it in comma delimted format.

Then use PFM to import the TSV OVER the old TSV inside the pack.

I've noticed importing tsv files may cause problems with strings that contain quotes. If the quotation marks are the first or last character in the string, they get duplicated. An easy way to fix this is simply search and replace all " into '.

Johan is correct -- there will be added quotation marks.

At some point I will remove them from our localisation, lol!

I highly recommend this csv editor. Just open and close your files as "All files '*"". If you don't see all your columns, press add column until you see them all. It's awesome for editing the loc files and doesn't add the additional ". It's great for all the files except when you have to copy from one sheet to another (there may be an easy way to do this that I haven't found yet).

To hell w/ it, I can't get it to work. Either the unit descriptions appear, or the text for TI does not appear in the window. I'll try again later...

Yes and no. I can get it to work now, but I have to delete the faction specific loc. (Which is a movie file, and just gives me an error when I run it as a mod file) When I used the method you suggested, ( I'll rep you when they let me again) I was still getting a conflicting error on Mod Manager.

If I had a tool that would show exactly what files are conflicting, I would fix it in 5 minutes. My last attempt was to erase what files the faction mod will overwrite on APE, copy those over to APE , but I only get errors. Excel is extremely unstable for managing loc files by the way

Why don't you combine the locs and change what is necessary (where there is conflict in the locs?)

I spent a couple hours sifting through the entire loc just to change names and stuff. 0_0

It's time consuming, but there can only be one. (as said before)
