CTD? Do you have savegame? Is it about trait?
Is proudly patroned by the Great Balikedes.
Some Generals are born to fight, this one held up an entire reinforcement stack whilst the infantry raced to the main square after breaking through the initial defences, he got another Eagle in the process and I have to say I think he deserves it too:

Very useful, I can slam into anyone and get out fast without taking more than one or 2 casualties, I don't inflict much damage on the heavy stuff but these guys excel at chasing down light cav, routing units and skirmishers. Very useful indeed, look cool too. Only downside is like many Cav units in XC the formation is not particularly tight, but I don't know anything about historical formations so it's
XC players, lets have some battle screens in here please, I think a few of you might even have fraps by now so it won't take much. You help promote the mod as well as entertaining us
Am I the only one who loses like 10+ cavalry units when attacking a phalanx/other units in the back?...
And aside to Zarax; I just had a little "problem" with over-powered units.. A xystophoroi unit (counting less than 10 horses) almost killed my entire unit of Cretan archers (fully upgraded bronze and 2 experience) last night
I know you asked for Zarax and I'm sure he'll be along shortly but that unit is an elite cav unit, and cretan archers are after all just archers. You may have been a little unlucky but in no way as far as I'm concerned is the cav overpowered, heavy cav normally should inflict 20:1 or more on non spear armed skirmish units in my games. That's just my opinion however.
As for losing cav I read a post somewhere a while back on how to use cav and keep losses low, very useful info, can't remember if it was for RTW or M2TW though

Thought I'd share some of my "epic" screens.
They're from different campaigns though.
I like having a small but strong empire, balancing the powers by making alliances, protectorates, etc. and getting involved in wars if smaller empires are at war with the big ones (Pontus ~ Seleucids/Ptolemies, etc)
Not really fond of having big unstable empires with city revolts, rebels attacking every 2 turns..
So, one of my latest campaigns I came to know that you can "give away" retinues from one FM to another one.. that after 4~5 years of playing RTW Man I'm a noob.
I decided to make better generals
These are two examples..

Another campaign as Syracuse I continue playing now and then;
I saw that the Celtiberians are getting too tough, that rustled my jimmies!
So I decided to get in their territory of central power and disrupt the unit supply
I chose a young FM with no experience to go there, to get some more stars obviously.
I wasn't really looking where I was going, I'm not quite familiar with Hispannia, but I sumbled upon the Celts instead of the Hispanics.. it was at a bridge and I got phalanxes, so it didn't seem a problem for me.

Though, it bothered me that this stack was this scipt activating stack which I probably activated somehow.
But still, I've got dem elephants.

The battle was all going okay, I've set one unit of these phalanx-dudes at the end of the bridge, an they were all like chillin', killing dem Celts with losing only 1 guy or something, until the point where I decided to get the other units there also to give my guys a morale boost and to scare of the other guys a little bit.
So I CTRL+doubleclicked, as usual, the units and gave them the order to get to the bridge, the point was that I didn't really think about the fact that I had also choose the guys who were standing by the bridge, fightin' & .. the whole unit was killed as I gave the order, because they, you know, turned around..
With this as the aftermath, just by one stupid mistake

Nice screens, new posts always welcomed in here.
It is always nice to fight near the Pyramids

This makes for an excellent defensive position with your rear defended by a wall

But of course, nothing beats this bottleneck, if you stand in that area between the Pyramids and the long entrance, there is no way the enemy can reach you but through this small passage between the Pyramids. Something tells me Phalangites might come in handy there.
