[PASSED 07/04/09] [Citizen] Arnspac (Patron: leif_erikson)

If it pleases the Consilium de Civitate, I would like to present my case for consideration and appointment to the rank of Citizen.

I have been a TWC member since 2006, and have never received any warnings or points for misconduct. Having tried several mods and enjoyed interactions with many members, I looked for something else to expand my knowledge here. Early in 2008 I was reading the Wiki - Total War articles on Characters and noticed some missing information. So I learned how to enter info and made contributions to the following:

I also noticed a missing overview for Generals so I created one,

Later in 2008 I volunteered to work on the Modding Registry Team under Hader’s direction and Harry Lime’s supervision. I was involved on the M2TW side, which was, to be honest, slightly foreign to me, but opened my eyes to even more of the marvelous work that is accomplished here. Later that year I volunteered and was accepted, (after much pestering I might add) to the Roma Surrectum Team to help out doing historical research and editing for the new 2.0 releases. My efforts and writing resulted in being asked to present the
Cimbri Faction Preview:

That was followed up with the Dacian Faction Preview:

This led to an invitation from Anthoniusll to do a faction preview for CBUR, that I accepted, but has not been realized at this time. I have also been involved in Beta testing, proof reading and editing of other Roma Surrectum previews and working on export_unit files. I make an effort to help any new members with questions or helpful tips regarding game play, in the same manner that more senior members of this site helped me.

Upon reviewing his achievements and contributions to TWC, in both modding and discussion areas of the forum, I am sure that you will find that he is more than worthy to join our ranks. His dedication to historical detail and researching the best sources is well known, he was the one who put together two of the best RS2 previews Cimbri and Dacian factions to name a few of his acomplishments. I am honoured to be his future patron.

Would it be possible to see a bit more of his work as a researcher, possibly from the RS dev forums? Or is all of his work featured in the two previews which he put together?

I saw a lot of his work while I was an RS beta tester, and it really is quite good. I will continue searching through the RS forums for stuff that he's done, but I'm leaning on a yes for him.

Having seen the work he does for RS I'm voting a definite yes. I will leave it up to the patron to provide any internal information though.

I think the helping hand in the small projects is important. As I learned from y2day, it is hard to present the value of a researcher. The problem as I see it is the contributions are spread over a really long period of time.

I shal vote yes on this despite some reservartions. I wish the applicant good luck.

I'm going to vote yes based on what I've gathered in the RS forums. However, I would recommend that people posed in a research capacity in the future should provide many more examples of their work(from the dev forums if necessary to be removed on conclusion of the vote). We don't get the whole picture from seeing the public input of contributors of this nature, and that does a disservice to those who don't end up passing.
