But these "foreigner" cavalry did not included some zones in Italy where cavalry were available, like Campania or Tarentum?

Hi, i'm quite new here at the forum and I have no idea if this thread will be read again, but anyways.
I'm studying Classic History and Archeology in the university, and I love playing TW games because they're are quite accurate. But as you said, there are various points that should be changed. I showed the game to my teachers and asked them to see where there should be changes.I also researched in books and internet for this. I want to list some of them here, but something I noticed is that it would make some things the game unbalenced, as you will see:
Greeks:
- Hoplites should have a little larger spear, and the shield should be a little bigger, with an ''u'' naer the spear, to use the phlanax correctly.
- They had few horseman, the number of units should be fewer and disorganized
- They had more sword welding infantry
- They had balistas that fired up to two arrows
- the "onager" should be smaller and with a shorter range. should look like this: http://www.redstoneprojects.com/treb...ager_trans.GIF and they had the repeating catapult
Macedonians:
- They didnt had a Lambda as simbol, but sun
- They had stronger hoplite formations, with an oval shield attached tp the arm and they're spears where bigger than the greek ones
- they had strong archers, heavy spearmen (not hoplites one) and skirmisher with melee spears
- good sword cavalary
Barabarians in general:
- Too organazied formations, they used to attack in hordes and more disorganized lines
- Missing the night riders, fast and deadly light cavalary that used to attack at night in hordes and good at hidding. (Spain, mostly)
Romans:
- The general used to wear and white armor and helmet.
- The archers had a havier armor with an small sheild in the arm. (SMALL)
- The preatorian cohort used to be purple
- The triarii had a larger shield, so that they were able to do shield walls. They should have more units.
I couln't find more things, but I will keep in researching. Hope it was usefull. Remember, this was comparing with the vanilla version.
I'm not sure the Sabaens "Temple Guard" unit is very realistic (I'm no expert, but it seems like Two handed axes wouldn't have much utility in a land where armor is virtually non existent due to the heat). I understand the need for some kind of elite unit though, so I'd suggest maybe spear armed nobles or something of the sort.
For example...make Sparta and Athena to be a separate factions...they were always torn apart by their petty rivallties!
Fortuna fortes adiuvat.....
Alexander does not steal victories....
You could add Krypteia to Sparta...they were a secret police wich taken care off anyone who even thought against Sparta.
So the building could be for bonus in law&order!

Hey rather new to these forums infact its my first post - been using Extended cultures for a while now and can i say the following: Great work = ) - i'm loving the greek cities faction the accuracy on the fight style is v nice ( just thought id put this here = P )
Hello Lads;
This is an excellent mod but still there are a few places where we can improve.
ROMANS
Everything that Degrazia said was very good.
Remove color coding on all units since dyes werent all that common.
Urban Cohort should be reduced to a town militia type of unit(like the one carthage has)
Add More cavalry (AOR) choice from the regions of Campania and Umbria,
Give Roman generals prateorian bodyguard and remove the cavalry unit. They should only be recruitable from rome and be very expensive to simulate that they were mostly deployed with the emporor in or around rome.
Make it so that certain cities become vassals of rome much more easily (only historical ones).
Introduce Phases(by scripting) in Roman Army composition and equipment that modifies legionaries/cavalry/Aor (Besides the Marius Reforms). For example the most common armour from Marius's Time till 3rd Century was the Lorica Hamata (chainmial) but somewhere around Trajan's Time or possibly earlier the lorica SEgmentata was introduced.
We don't have the manpower for that and XC tries to keep at least some vanilla style.
Already done. UC is now a well equipped but poorly trained militia.Urban Cohort should be reduced to a town militia type of unit(like the one carthage has)
It's planned but sadly lack of manpower makes that pretty slow.Add More cavalry (AOR) choice from the regions of Campania and Umbria,
This is quite debatable.Give Roman generals prateorian bodyguard and remove the cavalry unit. They should only be recruitable from rome and be very expensive to simulate that they were mostly deployed with the emporor in or around rome.
Praetorians are IIRC only recruitable from Rome already and generals rarely fought dismounted as they were mostly part of the equite or senatorial class by default, hence cavarly.

The historical conditions that led certain cities to become roman protectorates is a bit too complex to emulate it properly.
That would require background scripting, something that is not in XC philosophy.Introduce Phases(by scripting) in Roman Army composition and equipment that modifies legionaries/cavalry/Aor (Besides the Marius Reforms). For example the most common armour from Marius's Time till 3rd Century was the Lorica Hamata (chainmial) but somewhere around Trajan's Time or possibly earlier the lorica SEgmentata was introduced.
That said, the roman army will get some future refinements, especially as a test version of the socii/foederati system is definitely planned.
