He probably ordered the purge then complained how the purge retarded his army.

Before a Soviet game, I change my Armaments Minister to Stalin, change to Germany, type in Acceptall and Assassinate Minister him, so I don't have to do the purge and possibly lose Zhukov

yep, if stalin dies before the purge event (early '38?) then you wont get the event at all, meaning you dont have to choose between purges and huge dissent, no event what so ever will come regarding the purges.Before a Soviet game, I change my Armaments Minister to Stalin, change to Germany, type in Acceptall and Assassinate Minister him, so I don't have to do the purge and possibly lose Zhukov

But then traitors will help USA and Germany take over motherlandyep, if stalin dies before the purge event (early '38?) then you wont get the event at all, meaning you dont have to choose between purges and huge dissent, no event what so ever will come regarding the purges.
so its a real jackpot if stalin dies, particularly in multiplayer(really just try to overthrow Stalin i guess, but that would seriously cripple you...)

I've assassinated hitler once before as the US, was funny. Hitler can be a minister of something, i assassinated the ministers of whatever that was and then he was there. A few tries later hitler was also dead.
