Impassable ctd :(

Damn! I just started sweet campaign, eastern roman empire (the bigger, blue one, not the procopius one)
at the very begining, year 365, after i fight the battle on battle map i get ctd, it is one of those permanent ones, so whenever i reload the game, it will crashh again
Does this mean i cannot play like them anymore?

Sometimes, when the game autosaves it can save at the exact time that a ctd occurs. What would normally be a nonfatal ctd can then become a fatal one.
