    Default merging startpos.esf's

    hello all

I want to merge the startpos.esf of two mods as erasmus777 has asked me to add his mod (sons of danneborg) to my unitpack compatibility project (http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=259541). Problem is I already have a mod included in the project that uses its own startpos.

I've got the esf editor but would appreciate some input to get me started

    thanks

    Hello applelover,

I've asked "alpaca" a very similar question on this "A Proper Empire:Terra Incognita" thread:

    Here is my question:

Great news I'm eagerly awaiting your AOR.

By the way... is it possible to just add/change entries in the "startpos.esf" for units without including the whole file?

I'm really thinking about to include an AOR in AUM too. But I would only use a "startpos.esf" if we are able to just add/change entries in the file and AUM is compatible with APE and other mods too.

Here is the answer from "alpaca":

No, unfortunately we can only replace the complete file. It would in theory be possible to write a patcher program (I'm actually working on one for internal purposes) but this would be a file the user has to execute (in my case, a python program)... not sure if it's the right way to go. Anyways, such a program could be used to rapidly generate a new startpos from a base file which you can then release - changes in the base file should ideally not matter if the script is written correctly.
