Default Well Well, look it here :)

well seems CA has taken account of how much we like new units and has given us a nice suprise today in their daily update =

    Hi guys,

We will shortly be releasing a number of free new units for Empire: Total War. Today I would like to reveal the first of these - Russian Grenadiers. This new Russian unit is great for assaults and their grenades pack a mighty punch!

The team is still working hard on the next update, and will be implementing many new fixes.

    Thanks,

    Mark O'Connell

Lets see how many different units they release, itl be interesting how many units per main faction they release

I just wish they would release a working patch to play the us from period.

maybe even start out as a army with no city until you capture one, but i know thats something that would have to wait.

For emergent factions can it be modded that you start off with an army or two but no provinces and your first step to freedom and power is your succesful rebellion and capture of a provinc?

I am not 100% positive, but this does seem like it can be done, from what I know.

It would require some modding of the startpos file, but It would perhaps be best done for only a single faction per file, otherwise you would have all the emergent nations to begin with.

Also, would they be able to appear on the faction selection screen?

Yes, they would show up in the faction selection screen - we can use the startpos.esf and scripting.lua to make the changes needed I think.

If you can try it with ireland then I'd be more than happy to test it out and see if it works.

That mitre cap + actual grenadier models on many factions = historical accuracy.
