Thread: Lesson 3 - making a signature

  1. #21

Default Re: Lesson 3 - making a signature

Another lesson will be released, probably around next Friday. Anyway, I'll use this opportunity to announce that I will be on vacation for a week from next Saturday onwards. I'll go to Amsterdam and I can't tell yet whether I will have computer access there. Therefore, I probably will not be able to answer questions or to help you out unfortunately. However, once I get back I will have another week of vacation in which I'll be able to give advice. Lesson 3 and the upcoming fourth lesson will stay open until I return at least so you don't have to worry about not being able to finish it in time. I hope that's okay with everyone.

Secondly, in order to prepare my final lesson, I would love to get a few suggestions or feedback on what you'd like to learn. I'll do my best to teach you whatever I know about the GIMP but such a program is very complex and it's impossible to explain and describe everything. Therefore, don't be afraid to experiment around and to ask me if you have any questions or need help.

    Cheers.

    Part A
Oi that's a big one! Part b and c will be done later.

Blended two images. An A7 corsair (foreground) with a fire (background). Darkened & blurred edges and added a border.
Also no fancy text used.. too bored for that

Concerning the final lesson.. making an animated gif picture would be awesome! (like keeping only 5-6 frames from a movie scene)

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

If nothing else works, select the flag's alpha channel, then copy paste it (=it will appear on a new layer) before using the eraser tool for the edges. Otherwise, the background might become white (or e.g. black) if you erase the main layer.

    Good job.

Anyway, I've changed my mind. I'll put up lesson 4 once I get back since it wouldn't make much sense to have you do it while I'm gone. Therefore, simply try to finish lesson 3 in the meantime. If you have any urgent questions you may PM GrnEyedDvl who will be able to find someone to help you.

It doesn't have to be 550x175 pixels and can be smaller than that.

The only requirement is that it does not exceed that size limit.
