    Independence Day: Resurgence

What an utter load of crap.
It's not even funny how bad this is

    First one was a jewel

    Star Trek Beyond

Never a Stark Trek fan, but this tells the story really well.
Bones & Spock make the entire movie.
    The villain? Not so much.

First independence day was pretty bad too, especially to anyone who is not american the patriotic drivel can get pretty annoying. Aliens with no purpose who are easily defeated by a simple computer virus seems weird too.

While the first independence day film also was bad, this new one actually is far worse... :o

    Suicide Squad

    Not bad.
    In fact, quite good.
Will Smith & Margot Robbie were amazing.

Jared Leto's Joker: not so much.
He laughed like a geriatric mobster receiving an enema.

Oh and that Amanda Waller actress really did her part well.
She made her character all the more insufferable.

I understand now why worldwide people rooted for this movie.
    Humans like underdogs.

    10 Cloverfield Lane

    Really cool.
John Goodman hasn't been this scary since Barton Fink.
Mary Elisabeth Winstead was great as well.
Tips: play with viewers minds and expectations regarding a known fact.

    Enjoy Armageddon.

(or didn't JG actually - despite claiming to - know either?)

    Anthropoid
    http://www.imdb.com/title/tt4190530/

"Based on the extraordinary true story of Operation Anthropoid, the WWII mission to assassinate SS General Reinhard Heydrich, the main architect behind the Final Solution and the Reich's third in command after Hitler and Himmler."

Actualy way better then that Tom Cruise flick, Valkyrie. As WWII Assassinations based on true stories. go. More powerfull emotionaly, less sensationalist. And overall as a film simply better.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
There were some stuff that could have been handled better like Lenkas death ( it bugs me it was off screen), but overall, a good film.

Btw it seems there is an hollywood version of this story coming soon as well... while this historical story has been portrayed before (in Operation daybreak an 70s film), i think Anthropoid is the more accurate and less romancized of the films.
I know there is also a 60s Czech film called "Atentát" that is suposed to be good, but i didnt seen it.

No, because then it would've just been War of the Worlds.

Anthropoid - Yeh I liked it, though it was so close to Operation Daybreak I felt like I'd seen it already. One detail throughout was the realism of using WW2 weapons, the constant reloading and inaccuracy, especially the machine guns. Unlike most movies where every burst will kill half a dozen men.

I liked the idea the two leads weren't stone killers and struggled. However, you have to question why two men who'd never killed before were given such a high profile assassination mission. Presuming that part of the story was true.

I recall a dialogue with Josef, and Jan, where they say they had some military experience. Jan comenting he killed soldiers before, in firefights, but at long range,. differently then in a close up assassination.

    In a Valley of Violence

Westworld starved, I've decided to give this a go.
Really good, in the style of old westerns.
    Modernly filmed & scripted.

Ethan Hawke embodies his character really well. So does John Travolta.
Tips: Funny dialogue between enemies equals entertainment

    Hunt for the wilderpeople

One for the whole family, charming and upbeat comedy, very watchable.

    One False Move

Bill Paxton is the best thing that happens to this Pulp Fiction copycat.
Billy Bob Thorton is the worst.

    Even though he wrote it.

    Proposition

    Western written by Nick Cave.
It promises much but fails to deliver.
All work and no retribution in the end makes Jack a sad boy.

    Holidays

    Great horror anthology.
Favorite fragments, from best to worst were:

    1. New Year's Eve
    2. Valentine's Day
    3. Christmas

    Quick Change

    Great comedy.
Funny just how 80's everything looks.
It was made in 1990 after all.

Bill Murray & Geena Davis shine in this.
    Particularly her.

The Secret Life of Pets - Great animation, some funny gags, but the story seems rather forced; you don't really feel that the whole thing comes together.

It's not Zootopia, I suspect the model is Toy Story.

    Worth a watch.
    Eats, shoots, and leaves.

    Man in High Castle

A lot of talk, not much action.
Dig the whole subversive theme of the plot.
Too much I Ching and not enough German being spoken.
Juliana's fine, but she becomes annoying after a while.

Solaris (Tarkovsky). I likely expected more, and of course this is a very old movie so it would be unlikely to present very deep themes even if they are in the book (which i haven't read... ). Overall i didn't like it much...
