  1. #1

    Default Esf Editor 1.4.3

I present new Esf Editor based on just's Esf Editor 1.0

Esf Editor requires the .NET Framework 2.0.

    Change Log

    Change in 1.4.3
    - fixed problem with coping some nodes from save game

    Change in 1.4.2
    - fixed error while saving file when user changed FloatPoint value

    Change in 1.4.1
    - fixed error when user changed UTF or ASCII value for an empty string
    - fixed error while saving file when user changed any number value

    Change in 1.4
    - a few small improvements
    - added the posibility of describing values
descriptions are stored in xml file, so you easily merge them with other users' description files
    - added ability to work with many esf files at the same time
    - added export function
you could export any node to a new esf file,
    - added copy/paste function
you could copy any node to another node in the same file or between open files
be careful, pay attention to what you copy and where you paste it

be careful, pay attention to what you copy and where you paste it
    always backup original esf file
    any suggestions are welcome

Whenever I try to save changes to the startpos, I get an error "Specified cast is not valid."

I get this error again when trying to edit Line of Sight in Region Arrays in startpos.esf. I can copy a node from one region and paste it to another and save with no problem. But if I try to edit the coordinates in the node (e.g., change "57.5;381.5" to "47.5;371.5"), then I get the error and it will not save. Hope you can get this fixed, because the changes you've made so far are awesome.

I copy and paste a region slot array into Denmark. Basically, I'm doing steps 1-6 on this tutorial: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=260304

Also, once I get an error message, I have to force quit because the program freezes. I'm using Windows XP.

that happened with the original ESF.

what you need to do is do ALL the steps before you save... OR do a step, save, close, re-open, step... etc.

that happened with the old ESF.... basically it changes a bunch of when saved, and doesn't re-open the file... so things get re-arranged from the offset and are out of place...

If he could make it so whenever it saved it would re-open the file, which i think the PFM does, but keep the spot you had open (not sure if that is possible) it would work really well.

Brilliant I can't thank you enough for working on this. The startpos.esf is the final frontier in what we can mod right now, and it has all the important stuff!

So here's what I'm trying to do, if any of you guys could clarify what you think the problem would be, I'd appreciate it.

I'm trying to give Bengal to GB and the region south of that on the coast to France. To that end, I gave GB a very large starting treasury, and just bought it. Then I saved the game. I tried to copy and paste pretty much every combination of depth, but I get a CTD regardless when I try to start a GC.

Is there some fundamental difference between a save game and the startpos.esf that's preventing this?

i tried sort of the same thing... basically coping the campaign_env or whatever over to the startpos. but when i do that i open the esf and try to go to WORLD it says that some values aren't correct and closes the program..
