    Default Colours of uniforms...

All textures have white uniforms, in game angine these textures have colour of faction. I would like to make few variations of textures for one factions. but how?
I would likt to make blue Russian dragoons, yellow Russian Cuirssiaers, red French Gendermaerie, white Prussian Cuirassiers, and Spanish units white or blue... I make some textures but in game all Russians have green, Prussians dark blue etc.

We don't have access to these files yet. The only possibility to change unit colors is repainting them manually via Photoshop.

For your changes you also need to chage the alpha channel. It says the engine where to use the faction color and where to use the texture color. there is imo a tutorial about this here on the forum, so you should search for it.

There is also the possibility to generally change the faction color by changing the RGB-values in the faction table. there is also a thread about which value is need to change for uniforms. just do a search in forum...

To edit a a texture you need 3 files : diffuse, gloss map and normal. You do not need to edit all file it all depend what you want to edit. Also, each file has an alpha channel which also regulate a different aspect:

    diffuse: for editing the colors
alpha: attachements (like the bowtie on the hat...)

gloss map: affect the texture's reflection and appeareance ( leather, metal, plastic or fabric appearence )
alpha: intensity of faction color ( this is a black and white channel, the white area are the area where the faction color will appear, in order to see all the proper colors edited in the diffuse file, the alpha channel of the gloss map file must be all painted black, this should solve your problem)

normal: woud affect 3d effects on the texture ( collar, lapel, buttons)
    alpha: affect the shadows

So that was a quick remind of the files and their use. I'm sure there's much more for I'm still learning the whole process. I use DXTBMP to edit my alpha channel maybe it could be useful to you. So I hope, I could gave you some pointers, good luck!
