    Default Something a little odd.

something a little odd, i have noticed that france spain and some other faction have not progressed technologically... the year is 1715 and as i like to steal other peoples tech as i only have one school.. i was puzzled to fined that they are still at the level they were at the beginning.. this is obviously a bug? as they have not even got on the first rung of tech tree?

That is bizarre, I don't know what could cause that behavior.

Edit - just to clarify, what do you see? Do you see the first tier technologies, or no technologies at all?

What buildings have you built? Basically, are you in between tech levels anywhere. There's a possibility that they've outteched you, and you don't have the requirements to research the next level because you don't have the required building.

Or you could have outteched them.

It just looks like you are at equal tech levels to me. I've often come across nations that I can only take one tech from (or none). What are the nation's prestige scores? Do they seem rather low?

Also, what campaign difficulty are you playing on? Hard and very hard give serious bonuses to the tech progression (right?), and at Hard the AI is almost keeping up with me. The obvious problem is that the AI might stick with one school, where as the player will go for two or three at the beginning.

Did Spain get taken over and then retaken? I have noticed some issues when the AI gets their main region taken and then takes it back they seem to not do very well.

I am playing on h/vd.. it is still early on in the game and france and spain have not been invoulved in any hostilities...... so this is why i am posting as i found this very odd that they have not attempted to progress early on in the game... like i say the year is 1715.....
