    Default Warg Packs

I stumbled upon a few days ago giving instructions on how to build an animal handler unit (which apparently was in rtw). The thread discussion is here : http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...ghlight=animal

I was going to try my hand at creating a warg pack, as the model should already be there and done. This would make a great OOMM unit IMO. Before I get started does anyone have any gotchas for animal units? I've worked on the mounts/units and it seems fairly straight-forward.

Where can I download? Or is it not done? When is it done? Will it be in the official mod?

The only problem with this that I foresee is that the wargs most likely don't have any attack animations, which would most likely mean the just sort of run up/trample the enemy, rather than biting them.

They can use the war hound animation from RTW, it's in the M2TW animations folder already.

Well then, this should be a pretty easy mod. Looks like the OotMM are about to get some more diversity in their unit roster.

Can we modify the warg riders so that the wargs use the war-dog anim for a secondary bite attack, and the riders can use their weapons as the primary attack? That would be very cool.

Also, please note that in the anim pack to be released with the next patch, and RC for TATW soon, there are already wardog anims defined in the latest descr_skeleton file (attached). Just do a search for WARDOG.

If you are an anim expert and can give me advice how to make this work for upcoming RC for TATW release, I'd be very grateful

I would become one to help you, but that will take some time.

Well the OOMM used Unmounted Wargs in the Hobbit.
So I think they should be added like the Wardogs of Rome Total War.

I don't think Wargs in The Hobbit are described as blindly obedient as dogs. I'd have them as a unit (just Wargs) instead.

Ya... wargs arent like pets/hunting dogs/war dogs/whatever that obey... they are like Allies. I mean... it would be like making a dwarf handling unit for the elves (on second thought.... that would be kickass)

They were hunting Bilbo's expedition along with Orcs, not on leads or anything? More side by side; You are right Wargs are intelligent and they would never let Orcs ride them or control them.

According to The Hobbit, they rode wolves, but not Wargs:

"They ride upon wolves and Wargs are in their train!"

    - Gandalf, just before the Battle of Five Armies

This was way before the Battle of 5 Armies, they were driven up into trees, I think it was around entering Mirkwood before the Spiderlings encounter.

What does that have to do with anything? All I did was present a fact - Goblins ride wolves, but not Wargs.
