I still have ten years to go, but i believe if I never told you wouldn't be able to notice my age.

I'm 30 as of this September.

I begun my adventure with computer games with a Space Invaders clone entitled "Galactix" for a PC called "Meritum".

I've played board strategy games since I was in the second grade. Amazingly, some of the games I played when I was 10 are more complex then what I'd have patience to start playing now

I love all the classic series such as Civilization and groan terribly when a series is dumbed down for mass sales, which usually involves the words "action packed" and "state of the art graphics" on the box. I even hated Warcraft III for moving away from Warcraft II/Starcraft standards and into a strategy-RPG-action game hybrid.

I particularly love all games which follow the pattern of strategic map - tactical map split, like the TW series. I think that just "producing" a shiny new unit is less fun then producing it and immediately seeing it in action.

Also, great thanks to DarthVader for making my copy of Empire playable, I wanted to shelve it for another six months before trying out your mod. Great job!

I am not a social player. I describe my self as a lonely wolf.
I like your work from RTW. I have passion with History (I am a teacher). I use the ETW to play '21 battles and naval battles in classroom! I will help to make a mod on Greek Revolution.
I only play historical strategic games. I rate ETW 87% (the next best is Dimebagho's XGM: 72%). An accurate mod will make the absolute strategic game.
Thank you for the good job. Manos

I'm just turned 46, I really should to try to grow up at this point...

...oh hell, what I'm thinking? Grown-Ups suck!

...now where did I leave off in my campaign. Oh, Yeah, I was killing the crap outta of peple, CHARGE!!!!

    Me bit o' gaming history:

Started way back on Atari 2600 (the Sears Version, LOL) remeber playing atari basketball with my dad, great fun then.
I hit video game arcades back in their hey-day (also discovered pen & paper RPGs during this time).

After high school, not muching gaming, attempted to go to community college, but ended up majoring in beer. Dropped out, joined the USAF, went to Germany for 2 years, still getting hammered but did get some gaming in on friend's C64 computers. Sampled my first flight sim on a C64 (very primative but this later would turn into a major addiction years later).

After the USAF gig was up, I returned home to a really crappy local economy (lasted years for me) so still no gaming. Started to learn Bass Guitar, joined some buddies, started a rock band (NO NOT A VIDEO GAME DAMMIT!), spent the next 12 year jamming out and partying ad met and married my wife during this time. After those year tho, me and the wife started to settle down. One X-mas, she got me a playstation (the first one). Played the crap out of Twisted Metal and Air Combat. A year or two later finally got a basic PC, started playing X-Wing, TIE fighter (still some of my favorites) Then I got my first real flight sime, Fighter Squadron: Screamin' Demons Over Europe. I played and modded the crap out of the game for years. I'm still somewhat active in that community now. OK but I could not afford much in those days so the 233mhz with 64mb memeory and voodoo2 started falling way behind the times. Then some unexpected happened, I fell out of "average joe getting dirty and sweaty" jobs to my first PC tech support job. Worked 2 years doing Dell tecj support so I bought be a Dell 8100, customized as best I could for gaming and actually that was a great system that served me well as a gaming box for several years. GOt my hands on XP at the same time. So I went from a 233mhz with a 16mb VooDoo2 P.O.S. box to a 1.5ghz, with half a gig of memory and GeForce 3, I was in heaven and started pigging out on PC games (MechWarrior 4, Il-2, Call of Duty, MOHA, ect.) . No for long tho, two years later my wife passes on (Lupis, a terrible affliction, you would not wish on your worst enemy) and at the same time Dell cans it's US tech support (thanks to outsourcing, rrrrrr). Shortly after my wife's passing, I landed my current job. At this point the Dell was passed it prime but I wasn't ready money wise to do anything about it (I was unemployed for six months) but this is when I also discovered Rome: Total War or should I say ROME: TOTAL CRACK! A year later I discovered FRRE's first project (eventually I even joined their team as installer guru), a year after that TWcenter and after that well, you know....

Now I build my own PC gaming monsters and play way too much Total War.

Honestly, I am 22. But I am a little old or shall I say mature for my age. I am a college lecturer/instructor in the universities. I am a scientist and am currently finishing my masteral degree. Although I work hard for my career, I am a hardcore gamer at night-- which caused my tardiness sometimes in class. I started playing when MS windows wasn't out yet, I was 5.. maybe... I forgot. I played D&D pool of radiance -- one of my first few games. I also played all the BIG multiplayer games that went out in my high school days like C&C, starcraft, counterstrike, warcraft... etc. However, I began to grow tired of these games (especially DOTA) when I reached college. I started looking for realistic games or sophisticated games.. I stumbled upon RTW, operation flashpoint, neverwinter series... then later oblivion, medieval2, CoH... Also, I began to develop a huge interest in history at age 19 or so (apart from fanatasies/Scifi eg LOTR, StarWars, Shanara...) so I became hooked with the TW series. I wasn't aware of darthmod 'till ETW, because all the other TW games were playable upon release so I didn't put any effort in finding new things to imporve it. When I tried darthmod, hold and behold! THe dark side is quite strong! It's way better than vanilla. I love PCs too. I create my own rig, customize it, tweak it and do nasty stuff to it... My earnings either go to my PC or women (one at a time of course) and other acadamic stuff..

30..almost 31 ... and a big fan of TW since Medieval...

I made my own sub-mods in medieval, I adjusted many unit recruitments as well as making available most of the crusading ones, that was done with a notepad first and with a good program by dunnowhom after.
In RTW I did the same but it's in MTW2 when I made my unit-increasing mod which turned into speed mod and morale mod...quite proud of it !!
ETW has been a complete disappointment, lucky for me, there are nice submods out there that improve the base that CA has created...I'm not trusting that NTW will make any "big" change in terms of playability, so I just wait the next release of TW....Rome hopefully

So yes, since many years...playing...strategy games, Starcraft, Centurio, Campaign....

Many strategy-experienced years on my back

Hey darth, how about we make this club official. I mean we can start our own forum and share on experiences regarding mature gaming... suggesting new games... hardware/software issues and whatever mature professionals, who are at the same time hardcore gamers, talk about under the sun.

I'm not that old... 31, dam I am that old... I played pong... well on the atari 2600, but you got the Traditional "if not for the fact this the is the pinnacle of technology, it would blow" factor... something kids today can only identify with through things like Halo. I joined the TW series on Rome TW. I dabbled in modding myself, but fell in love with RTR (I am a long time realism fan, starting with games like rainbow 6) which was far beyond my skill. I ran darth mod for MTW, and am glad to see you return.

Thanks for a great mod for all us old farts...

Darth you are the man! or should I say the cyborg?

My first personal computer was an Atari 400.

My first PC had a 6 mhz 80286 processor and turbo up to 8.33 mhz
    the OS was Dos 3.0.

Wing Commander was the first game that blew me away! I had to buy a new PC to play it.

The only military games the new PCs could simulate were Flight or Sub sims like: MicroProse F-15, Silent Service, Task Force 1942, Europeon Air War....

Master of Orion was a great strategy game.....that was 15 years ago!

The reason I bring this up is because IMHO a lot of gamers are too harsh on CA and it's great games.
My guess is that the complainers a too young to have perspective or patience

These games are not perfect but then again do any of you remember a bug free perfect game?

I love Total War games and with the exception of Fallout 3, Knights of the Old Republic, and HOI2 these are the only games I have played since Shogun.

I agree completly with your comments on why older gamers like TW games.

These games are a cross between lead miniatures and an Avalon Hill board game. Just wonderful

    PS I was born Winter of 1963 I guess I'm over 30!

    Hi.
I was looking for something and I found this.
I turned 30 in August and I like to play realistic games.
Favorite game on playstation was Metal Gear Solid.
When I got a PC I played the Rainbo Six series and Ghost Recon until that turned into an arcade game.
    Hitman series.
Now TW series, I got hooked on Rome.
Never was big on mods but DarthMod for Empire is great.
Thanks for all the hard work.

i am 33 really hooked on gaming since i saw a C64 at a friends place when i was about 13
first computer besides pong which couldnt facinate me longer then 20 min was a C 128D
first game i think was "save new york"

LOAD"SAVE*",8,1 (is that the commando to load the game, something seems wrong)

. a 2p game. goal: save new york by shoting down aliens. used to wreck new york though with a friend (shoting the skyscrapers to pieces) took us a year to figure the real goal of the game out.

already was facinated by war simulators (mainly ww2) back then

    Commodore 128D favorites:

    SSI´s Kampfgruppe
    Silent Service 1
    Steel Thunder
    North & South
    Pirates!
    Gunship

Then there was my 386, 60mb hdd if i remember right 20Mhz and the infamous "turbo" button to crank that beast up to 40Mhz

there also was a good game in roman times, forgot the name. you would do the 2d battlers, cart races, gladiator fights etc goods stuff
also red baron, gunship 2000 and bob1940 were titles i hold a masters degree in

and so on.. playable history as accurate as possible, the best way to use a computer besides porn

loved your RTW darthmod. it was epic. i remember getting kaweh k. to make a mjöllnir faction symbol for the germanics which he did. my little tiny influence on your awesome mod. good times. i regretted that you gave up on medieval 2 totalw ar at a certain point. however there is no mod i play without inserting your cavalry charge fix. never checked your empire total war mod. empire is a huge disappointment for me. not because of weird diplomacy and retarded ai (got used to that ages ago) also in general battles dont seem to have any dynamic. animations look retarded (though that could be coz my pc is rather weak) all in all just slow slow sea battles and boring shoot it out land battles... not my cup of tea.

I am 31 and definitely a 'hardcore' gamer, with varied interests.

Started gaming on the original Atari console when I was about 5, playing asteroids, pacman, space invaders, etc. I grew up in a small village in England, and was lucky enough to be around most every gaming system from that one on. At 8 I got an NES on a visit to the US - only to discover that it didn't work on the higher resolution British televisions. We eventually got it converted, and I may have been one of the first people in the UK to have NES. I remember being most fascinated by a baseball game, which was a novel experience as I loved the video game long before I ever saw the sport actually played. I also played on a friend's Commodore 64, and later Amiga 500 systems.

I also grew up playing Avalon Hill board (hex) games - mainly civil war and Napoleonic land war games, and also Wooden Ships and Iron Men.

Got my first PC shortly after moving to the US at 12, an x386. We had several x486's and then each level of pentium machines as they came out. I was of course very into the turn-based strategy games such as the V4Victory series, and many others like them. I also have always been into air combat sims, mostly WWII era, and remain so today - BOB2 being my favorite. Mainly though, I play strategy games on the PC - either turn-based or real-time, from Warcraft/Starcraft to Gettysburg and Civilization. Total War was immediately a favorite since it combines the best of all these genres.

On the console front, I bought the original Playstation, Xbox, and now use an Xbox 360. I mainly play sports and driving games on these systems. Final Fantasy Tactics was my favorite Playstation game, and I'm always hoping for a remake of this classic.

I have played Shogun, Medieval, Rome (first time I got into TW mods, as the CA version just was not s satisfactory setup - I have been loyal to RTR ever since I first tried it), Medieval II and now Empire. Having played some Darth before Empire, and being familiar with the 'brand', I jumped onboard with Darth's ETW mod as soon as I found it, and have stuck to it ever since.

I simply love ETW, and it has only gotten better and more compelling with time. Have enjoyed playing campaigns a variety of different ways, and am loving the stage this game has reached now. If I were to want one thing, it would be campaign AI that can somehow emulate the historical advancement, strategies and outcomes that actually occurred in 18th century Europe.

Despite all this gaming, I've never learned to program, and am not much interested in modding myself. That said, I really appreciate the ETW experience Darth and co. have created, and appreciate all their efforts very much. Thanks guys, I hope you keep it up - and really, I hope CA hires you to make their TW games right from the start.

This Is my first post but felt this was the one for me to start posting. I was born in 1950 and am 2 months away from 60 yrs old and I am a Gamer...... and I just love these TW games the realism is unbelievable ,, Sometimes I just sit back , let the two sides fight , and watch it on my 50" plasma. love all the stuff that is done on here and have tried a few things myself but nowhere near the quality found here at TW Center. any way like I said I am a Gamer and will be till I die.
