In the consecrated grounds of the sacred grove, you have built an altar clearing for Freyja. Freyja is the Norse goddess of love, fertility, and beauty. She belongs to the more peaceful Vanir, one of the two lineages of the gods, along with Njord, her father, and Freyr, her brother.
She is often invoked in childbirth and for good crops. She also has some association with war and death, since she receives half of the dead in battle in her hall Sessrumnir, on Fólkvangr, in Asgard, while the other half, the most renowned of the warriors, go to Valhalla, ruled by Odin. She is also the chief of the Valkyries.
She owns the most beautiful necklace ever made, the Brisingamen, and none surpasses her in beauty.
Historically, the altars in the norse world were made of a pile of stones, and were called hörgar. These humble altars were used for sacrifices and other ceremonies (like marriages). The blood of the victim was placed on a bowl over the pile, and then splattered on the assistants with a fir twig as a way of consecrating them.
