Ok, back during the Soviet Union there were jokes about a fake Armenian Radio. They ranged on all types of things. For most of them, you have to be familiar with the Soviet Union.

I'm not sure who it is, but someone has the sig:

    Roses are red
    Violets are blue
    In Soviet Russia
    Poem writes you!!

I thought of the following with my friends:

    Roses are blue
    Violets are red
    In Soviet Russia
    Trust what Party said.

Those reminded me of a very old joke during the Carter presidency.

Brezniev and Carter, are sitting on a bench quietly somewhere in the afterlife and are reading the newspapers of our future...
-B:Say Jimmy, have you spotted my photo on the last edition of the Nova Yorka Pravda? Gosh I looked fat on this one...
-C:Hey, Leonid enough with the small talk, there are serious issues here, see:"New tension in the Chino-Finnish borders"

Now I don't see the first prediction happening any time soon, but Finland conquering all the way to Mongolia....well...who knows?

I think that joke (-C) is like this other joke I've heard:

If you're born on the Mexican-Canadian border, what are you?

Yes, I know it's a stupid joke, but I believe the Chino-Finnish border is meant to be Russia (the USSR)

    and Kanaric: :grin

    It was "Burns".

Nice rhyme - gave me a few laughs. :grin

The common culture of a tribe is a sign of its inner cohesion. But tribes are vanishing from the modern world, as are all forms of traditional society. Customs, practices, festivals, rituals and beliefs have acquired a flut and half-hearted quality which reflects our nomadic and rootless existence, predicated as we are on the global air-waves.
