'Please select item from the list' on clicking Grand Campaign
HI,
Looks great.
However, when I try and click on a grand campaign in the single player menu, it just says 'Please select an item from the list'.
The same thing happens if I click on the tutorial.
I had a look for any similar problems but couldn't find any solutions.

Dont you have an option for third age campaign os something similar in the single player menu?
When I launch through the desktop icon, I get the Kingdoms launcher ( I changed the name of the mods folder to allow it to run), then when I open the game, I get the Third Age opening video, but all the rest of the game is the same as MTW, the loading screens, icons, menus, etc. Is this what's supposed to happen? Are there loading screens, etc. specific to TATW?
When I go into the single player menu, it has the usual MTW options, Tutorial, Grand Campaign, Custom Battle, Quick Battle, etc.
There is no option for a TATW campaign.
OK, so I redownloaded TATW again.
I've installed it properly as far as I can see.
I added the registry script to add TATW to the list of mods in the Kingdoms launcher, but when I click on 'Third Age Total War' in the list I get a 'CA_LIBS' error message and a 'Medieval II suffered a fatal error and will now exit' error dialog.
If I open it the old way (ie by changing the mod folder to one of the folders of the orignal kingdoms mods), I get the same problem as I was having before (ie vanilla MTW2 screens, Campaign and Tutorial unclickable).
Anybody got any ideas?
I notice similar problems have been noted before without any solutions.
I notice some people have had some success modifying/moving a descr_strat file. How does this work and would it help me?

Ya the same thing happened to me when I first installed TATW. I just reinstalled everything and it worked. But i still don't have any sound

I've definitely installed both parts of the mod and the hotfix a few times.Originally Posted by Moral
I downloaded the whole thing again twice from different sources.
Once when I installed it, I got as far as the opening video and it CTD with just a ! dialog.
Should I keep trying to install it in the hope it'll just work once? It feels a bit pointless but the different result of one of the installs implies there might be a problem with the installer.

I take it you have Kingdoms 1.5 patch installed?
I would remove TATW from your PC, do a defragment and use a CCleaner to delete unnecessary files and then use the Registry Cleaner, this will make sure all is tidy.

I have Kingdoms 1.5 and Vista.
I'll have a go at a registry clean. I haven't done it earlier as I'm a bit wary of messing with the Registry unless it's necessary, to be honest.

Also try turning off the UAC on Vista, i know from experience with SS, that it can cause problems

It works!!!
The registry clean did the job!
The CA_LIBS error is linked to the reg file to add 'Third Age' tot he list of mods on the Kingdoms launcher. When I tried that, I still got the error, but when I changed the mods folder to one of the four other Kingdoms mods, it works a treat!

Hey there,
I also have this "Please select an Item from the List" thing and I didn't get how I am able to get rid of this.
I cleaned my registry and stuff, but I guess thats not the problem.
..btw I running Windows 7 64 bit

Once I had a similar problem ... It happened using Windows 7 and simply installing this mod. After installation Windows told me the installation might be incomplete but I didn't cared ...
It WAS incomplete
This happens when you do not have admin-rights ... Then the stuff will be installed into a different folder and this doesn't work so well ...
Maybe this is what happened to you, too? BTW: The message "installation incomplete" or something similar doesn't have to appear ...
Maybe this helps if it is the case:
Start the installer in compatibility mode Win XP SP2 (or SP3)
This is the way I run it and it works fine.

There was no error message appearing during the install. Anyway, I reinstalled it and tried out,
but still it says "Please select an item from the list" when I click on the campaign.

Are you using a steam edition?
If so, have you installed according to the special instructions?

It's probably a bad install. Follow this guide, delete your current installation of TATW, and then reinstall.

Deleting the old one by simply kick out the mods folder? or is there sum way to deinstall?
I alrdy tried to just over-install it by simply running the 2 install parts again to overwrite and it didnt worked.
You think I should just delete all of it, install it once again and then do this UAC disable thing..?

I would disable the UAC first. Then delete the third age folder by simply clicking on it and pressing delete, then re-install.
