Pictures about one of my most epic battle in IJ. Roman Gothic mercenaries stack against 3 full Gothic stacks trying to cross the Danube. I thought I was gonna lose this one.

But when I tried enter back to campaign map the game crashed as usual.

In relation to post battle CTDs you need to look at this thread: http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=267387

especially when playing with unlimited men on the battlefield.

Damn, I turned unlimited men to off, used DirectSound, waited ~ 30 secs before clicking "Continue", tried Theages's suggestion but the game still crashes after 4th time. Looks like I just have to use auto_win cheat and auto_resolve. Or teleport the other stacks away so I only fight one Gothic stack at time. That should make the probability of crash lower.

Ah, I noticed that you had a heroic victory. I have found that a CTD seems to occur when there is one. I don't quite know why, but may relate to the traits file, but the trait validator gives the thumbs up for it, so I'm not sure what is going on here.

I think it's all those full stacks.
The game was not made for this many units, it seems to overwhelm the engine.
Try to fight smaller battles, or mod some of those gothic armies smaller in descr_strat.

I took some but they are not that great and they're custom battle, testing out the tweaks I made to some units to determine if they are realistic. Maybe I'll post them later with Imageshack or something...

Here's a couple from a Campaign battle - single legio moving incountry against a small raiding force of Saraceni infantry (poor fools). The legio is comprised of four infantry maniples and one light infantry maniple and one sagittarri maniple.
