Do i need a clean install or will the mod work with other while letting me still play vinilla?

No you can have other mods installed as long as they are mod foldered. The only thing you might want to backup is this file BI_Intro_640x480 which gets overwritten. You can find it in \Rome Total War\bi\data\fmv folder.

thanks but the intro being overwritten doesnt stop the playing of other bi mods eg IB7?

No you can have other mods installed as long as they are mod foldered.

What else do you need to know?
In example IB is modfoldered, as nearly every other major mod, too.
Install those modfoldered mods into one unmodified RTW(-BI) directory (also called "vanilla") shouldn't be a problem. Except just for these intro-video files.

That's why I told you to make a backup of that file - means you have to copy the vanilla file and store it somewhere in case other modfoldered mods won't work (which I highly doubt). You'll learn don't worry
