Thread: V1-V3 Tahar Caliphate Fan Thread.

  1. #1

Default V1-V3 Tahar Caliphate Fan Thread.

Easily the most powerful Faction in the Game:

    1. Cannon Elephants, never mind real life tests showed that no matter how light the cannon, the recoil would break the elephant's back. Ballista and Catapult Elephants are more realistic.

    2. Musket Elephants, charge them into any opposition and they will conquer.

    3. Camel Archers and Gunners, they just wreck your opposition.

    4. Solid Militia

    5. Good Cash and Large Unit Pool from Castles.

    House Rules I play by.

    1. All towns I capture are converted to castles.

    2. I do not convert castles to cities.

    3. I exterminate the Cities I do capture.

This faction is perfect for Maneuver and Defense specialists.
Well look at this here, a brewing free-for-all in Western Horn of Africa. What could possibly go wrong...

Elephants on Thera have much thicker bones , (remember the fantasy mod bit)
Nice to see this faction being used though, no one has really posted about them yet +rep

i use them, the problem is that people only talk about their favorite factions i like to use every faction because every faction is different but i always get back to the Reich

I do play them ocassionally. But I usually don't get far enough I guess. I've never seen the Tahars use elephants
E:TW's natives have developed a new "Ballistic Automatic Detection And Seeking System" to utterly annihilate any European that sets foot on their soil... That's BADASS for short!

Yep, Pinky just got to the Camel part... But I have to admit, I never played them long enough to see them use Elephants, too.
Good thing that this faction finally got it's fan thread!

After having played A LOT of Third Age: Total War and having set up a living and ongoing Dwarven AAR on Polish totalwar.org.pl forums, I came back to Thera and apparently, I started a new campaign with the Tahar Caliphate... I couldn't do anything else after reading this thread (the cannon elephants and camel musketeers made me wanna play them)

I havent really found a "prefect" faction for me, but I think that Tahars might be it!

the Nafatun Elephant were a great idea, they can kill with flame, and by trampling, great against heavy Infantry.

Also fabulous against other pachyderms (Yes just to include mammoths, they aren't technically elephants), without the danger of being trampled before they can let fly the boomyness.

Cheers! I did a test, those naffatun eles vs the sykorax mammoth riders without guns. No casualties at all. They were like half a metre real distance from my guys when they went 'Splosion.

Yes,cool, but I'm curious as to why this new unit would be given to the Tahar...with the whole "Camel and Elephant" thing they already had some character, and I also liked the fact that they had a lot of nomadic troops...so the real question would be:why giving gunpowder to them?

They already posses more firearm units than any other islamic faction, and there close proximity to both the Faust and the Valiente makes there use of firearms logical.

Duh,sorry about not noticing before, was too busy facing Elephants
Anyway I see your point, but I find that the "line infantry" feel could stand out in a strange way when put beside nomadic troops.

Their low to mid range roster is nomadic, they have a professional elite teir already this is a unit that will fall into place with them,

That reminds me, are the giants still going to be implemented in Therav4?
