Check the card's specs and your power supply. You may need one for that card.

You will definately see an improvement that's for sure.
I upgraded from a 8800GTS (512mb version) to a 4870X2 and there was no comparison what so ever.
And given the fact that 4890 is relatively cheap compared to the performance, I would say it's the ULTMIATE graphics card choice at the moment.
And no, your PSU will provide more than enough power for a 4890 - I'm pretty sure it will even power two.

Cool, but will it play Empire at 1680x1050 Max AA and Ultra settings with no random hiccups?
