I would like to as kthe team why there aren't mercs. If anyone has found any of them or knows why they don't exist, respond...

only specific mercs for specific factions; dale cavalry for the dwarves in dale regions, for example.
The Duke of Dunwich and surrounding fiefdom
For any who are interested by my FF on occurrences in Rhun and beyond; I have begun a new project (not because the old one is finished, just opening more room for ideas) about one of the minor characters, Rankal. It is in the Third Age AAR index and here is the link http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=376994
As harrrod i called an invasion on west osgilth and was at that point able to get orc raiders as mercs
Yes. For now only a few speciific mercs available but we add more later

Yeah, just a few AoR mercs. would be the way to go. I want a 1957 Ford Mercury, but not an Edsel.
Maybe some generic mercenaries could be added that arent mentioned anywhere but could really have a place in middle earth.
Like generic groups of dwarven mercenaries sometimes popping up in dwarven and human lands, that could be recruited by both the dwarves and human factions.
Same could go for human mercenaries. Some of these could perhaps not even mind working for evil factions, worrying more about gold than a green and good world. And some Harad and Eastern mercenaries in turn could be recruitable by good factions. Most human mercenaries could be hired by elves unless there would be a reason that the unit wouldnt fight for the elves.
There could for example be mercenaries hailing from Gondor that carry some gondor equipment, like a dented breastplate here and there, some gondor shields with the white tree symbol half faded, and some having one shoulderpad attached with a strap over their torso. It could make for one awesome looking unit.
Many of such mercenary units could also be good for the ranks of rebels.
personally...I think the corsairs should be mercs in Umbar; as pirates they wouldn't care who paid them to fight

Looking forward to the new Merc units in a future build of TATW.
Edit: As any 'good' or 'evil' faction it'll be great to muster any number of strange and unlikely units to your banner. The 'Evil' factions drawing mercinaries from distant lands under their banner; the good factions being able to raise a broad spread of free companies of Men, Elves and Dwarves; rare and not appearing too often, yet adding the colourful variety that Mercs traditionally bring to a M2TW game.
Last edit: Oh, wish there where Istari Wizards, Huorns and Ent mercs recruitable by the free peoples to help counter the variety of Trolls and the mighty Oliphants!

I don't have any mercenaries either, I mean none. None for an invasion or any dale cavalry and such near dale/erebor for dwarves. Also, shouldn't this be under bugs?
Just adding to the non-specific mercs, well for the free peoples anyways. Wandering company of Elves. In Middle Earth I (and I won't go into detail here) know that many Noldor elves formed wandering companies, and while generally they wandered in regions like Eriador and the far west of ME, they were found all over (barring lands of evil, of course)
To the person who is using/used my TATW signature - who are you? You never left a name with the rep comment, and I'm really curious
mercenaries would be quite cool, then you could properly recreate battle if you had rohirrim and gondorians in the same army,
Well im no good with this stuff but would it be that hard to create a submod to add mercs in? Nothing too special just some generic units.
Liberty or Death
The Puklemen in the woods near Rohan? Huorns and Ents (to combat those monstorous Trolls!) and free companies of Men, Elves and Dwarves. Seeing what and which mercs get put into future versions will be very interesting indeed. So far I've not managed to find any, but understand there are some.
Ah! This would be most excellent-e!
Would it be possible to make ents hirable for a single battle or a few turns (roughly one military campign) and then automatically disband them? With a long-ish refill rate (equal to trolls')
And if I may, I'd like to have a limited number of available merc companies but a high enough refill rate for their unit pools. This way we can mantain faction flavor (so as not to have a dwarven army fighting for Gondor and so on) but making it viable to keep a constant (if small) presence of other races in our armies?
