It was the dumb way the pawns went off and slaughtered their fellow pawns while the kings lounged about doing nothing that always got to him; if only the pawns united, maybe talked the rooks around, the whole board could've been a republic in a dozen moves. -Thud!, Terry Pratchett

Fantastic. I'm in the middle of making a battle mod, but with the limited maps that we had it almost didn't seem worth it. Thanks alot for the new tool.

my head is ok...for the moment. for past the gimp part and now stuck on page 31 - it says:
'put the files from blank.rar pack with this tutorial inot battleterrain/....'

    can't find blank.rar

it sounds like all this is is the folder structure....correct? no?

also, not sure how to 'make a pack file using the pack manager, as described above.'

i kinda understand, but maybe not. It might just be over my head for the time being. I'll try and work through it, experimenting and figure it out

EDIT: I think i am figuring out the pack manager stuff. as far as the blank.rar, if it is just a blank folder structure to use as i suspect, then i am getting around it by extracting the Mapmod.pack and duping/replacing existing file with my own.

hopefully it is as i suspect. if not.....

EDIT: I suspected right! I am a golden god of Troubleshooting! Seriously, it took a bit of trial an error, but i managed to pull it off. Got through part 5. Part 6 just looks like bells and wistles after 5
Key things to look out for :
    1. Make sure your maps are all correct before saving the pack. Once it is save, it doesn't pull outside files in unless told to specificly.
    2. Make sure that you put the correct folder in the battles_tables.

Not to step on toes, but i could update/ write up a Step by step for the pack file manager part. that was the most confusing for me, so far. but is the most important, as with out it, it doesn't go in game. Let me know if i should, and i will do it this weekend.

Hokomoko, you need to re-upload the file to rapidshare, and put it in a collector's account, otherwise it will only allow ten downloads of the file before it's removed (that limit has been reached, and they've removed the file), and filefront gives me an error everytime I try to download it, and I keep getting the key code wrong on megaupload, since I'm having trouble reading the picture code.

    EDIT

I've managed to download if from filefront, but you might still want to consider re-uploading it to rapidshare.

Please do Tsailen, as that part wasn't really about map making, i put it in just briefly. If you could write that part, i'll include it in the pdf & give you proper credit for it

    I forgot to mention something else there. Int he battles table, you'll see 2 numbers in the unknow part. like 00 00 02 00 00 02 00 00 00

That means the map will show up as a 2v2 map ingame in this case. You can make 1vs1 to 4vs4 game maps. Haven't tried to make 2vs3 maps, but it guess that would be possible too. Just make sure you put enough deployment zones in the deployment zone XML file, as the game will freeze without them.

As for the blank.rar, you can find it here: Can't believe it forgot that

I have a problem exporting my heightmap from PnP, its completly black, any idea whats causing this?

ALso could you please specify the RGB color values of the different trees, i copy pasted the colors from the tutorial but the treetool spits out like 500 different colors while the png only has a white background and the five colors from the tutorial

    Hi there,

We're looking into the heightmap issue, pm'ed you on that.

As for the trees, you can pick whatever colors you like, the program lets you assign tree names to each color. Just make sure you use a pen, not brush in Gimp/PS/whatever you use with 100% hardness. As rounded edges will indeed introduce a whole range of colors. Also, be carefull witht he eraser, make sure is is 100% hard & 100% opaque too, or you'll get all sorts of alpha values.

When you're using Pnp, the vegetation export might be the better option.

    cheers

    im stuck at :

Now you’ll need to run the maps script in Gimp on this map. Install the maps-script.scm and
maps-script2.scm gimp scripts in the folder below:
    ..\program files\GIMP-2.0\share\gimp\2.0\scripts
Restart GIMP and load the dds file we just made.

ive downloaded the scripts and placed them in the correct folder... but when i restart gimp... i cannot load dds files ... gimp says its an unknown file type... is there more to installing than just placing them in the folder?
