Hellas Mod v. 2.X
This is version 2.X of Greek mod with many changes that aim to make it more interesting and more joyful. The most obvious changes are in textures. There are some fine textures made by Anastasios and some temporary made by me. All the textures should be reworked from Anastasios in next releases. Some units historically had traditional uniforms and guns. I've tried to make as closed it was possible due to serious limitations in changing models.
However the most important change in the game play are the changes in units stats and units recruitment. Stats where reworked having in mind the VH level where Greece normally has no chance. Even now it is very challenging and only a TW expert has a few chances to succeed.
Game play info and tips:
The regular units are expensive and limited in numbers thus with better stats and full sizes. This reflects the small economy of the new established Kingdom. Greek units can be recruited only in Moreas, Greece and Rumelia. The only global units are the irregulars and Chorofilakes (infantry and cavalry) that historically had also police duties. Naval units are also global. You won't be able to make more than 3-4 full stacks with regular units because of the limitations. Also the high prices in buying and keeping them will discourage you to recruit many of them early in the game before you develop your economy. But the enemies will never let you do that in land and sea...
A good strategy is always to avoid quick expansion and develop your economy. All the building slots in Athens lead to prestige buildings that boosts your economy. Sacrifice one of your towns for making a school for technology research. To protect your lands base your starting armies in irregulars that are cheap to buy and maintain. They are veterans of the Greek Revolution and especially in melee combat are excellent fighters. Also Philellenes (foreign volunteers) should be your early solution in recruiting line army and cavalry. They have also low cost in recruitment and up keeping.
Greece starts with 2 commercial and 1 naval port, reflecting the strong power that has traditionally in sea trade. Even during the Revolution the Greeks used trade vessels transformed to battle ships. There are 4 special unique naval units that should help you survive from the see threats with low cost in recruitment and up keeping. Also Greek 5th rate line vessels can beat easily the 5th rates of other factions and will be a challenging opponent for bigger enemy ships with the help of the unique naval units. Historically this power should be met in smaller vessels but in Late Campaign there are many big ships of the line around, so 5th rate is considered a small vessel even in the beginning of the game.
As mentioned the limitations in unit numbers will not let you make more than 3-4 full stack of regular units and these only in home regions and Rumelia. For the rest of the world you can recruit local units. More than 130 units are recruitable by Greece with the included AOR system.
Since the depth in game play is a main objective for this mod your suggestions and ideas in this filed playing with Greek mod is mostly welcome.

This BETA version 1.4 is just a quick release before I go away for some time and get back in late August to continue work. We are open in response to some errors or suggestions, but have always in mind that a lot of improvement or changes are subject to be done until the final v1.4 release. In this BETA you can get a glimpse of the new units with Anastasios' great new textures and the new republic flags made by Sam.
This mod is not aimed at historical accuracy
simply put, to anyone complaining about historical accuracy or authenticity, simply DONT DOWNLOAD THIS MOD or View this mod thread!
Details of mod:

Regions: Greece Victory conditions: Short Campaign: 15 total regions, including Greece, Morea, Rumelia, Anatolia (these surely) I also included Syria as it has the island of Cyprus and Bulgaria as the Balkans is an area that the Greeks have always wanted to dominate Long Campaign: 25 total regions, including Greece, Morea, Rumelia, Anatolia, Syria, Bulgaria, Bosnia, Serbia (the last 3 as for seeking dominance in the Balkans) Prestige Victory: 15 total regions, including Greece, Morea, Rumelia, Anatolia, Syria, Bulgaria (same as short campaign) World Domination: 40 total regions, including Greece, Morea, Rumelia (just these as they approximately represent the regions that have always been the main land of Greece)
Other changes:
1.Changed the voice language of the characters, army and navy from Turkish to US English as Greek is non-existing (credit to LSD)
2.Changed Larisa from village to town in order to give a slot available for school and technology advancements.
Known Issues:
1. At the start you won't have a government and the government tab and taxes panels will be disabled, until you capture a new region.
I also weakened the Morea region that Venice controls to make it easy to capture early in the game and enable the tab.
2. Due to AI entries, the AI thinks that it still owns the Greece region and it may recruit a unit from time to time at the start of the game, but as the game progresses this should become very rare. Also we you destroy the Ottomans, the game crashes.
Also due to this, Athens has very bad wealth deficit and illogical minor problems. I strongly encourage you to follow the steps below to solve this! Together with the next update, a savegame with the steps already done will be released.
To solve this:
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
After capturing Morea, open the savegame with esf editor and change the capital region to Morea and then give the region of Greece to Venice through diplomacy in game. In the same turn capture Greece back (it will be easy as it wont have any army) and then change again the capital back to Athens through esf editor. To do this:
1. Open the savegame with esf editor 2. Go to CAMPAIGN_STARTPOS\CAMPAIGN_ENV\CAMPAIGN_MODEL\WORLD\REGION_MANAGER\REGIONS_ARRAY\ and find the region_array of Morea 3. With REGION being highlighted, copy the second entry on the right-side which is the Region ID of Morea and a number of type Int 4. Then go to CAMPAIGN_STARTPOS\CAMPAIGN_ENV\CAMPAIGN_MODEL\WORLD\FACTION_ARRAY\FACTION_ARRAY and find the faction_array of Greece (it should be the first in order) 5. With FACTION being highlighted find the 12th and 13th entry on the right, which are the Capital Region IDs of the faction. Replace BOTH of them with the previously copied Morea ID. 6. After that, click save and run the game
NOTE: Normally, after recapturing Athens back, it should open a message which will say "Old Capital region recaptured" (or something similar).
If so, then Athens will be automatically changed back to capital region. If a normal message of capturing a region appears, then you have to manually change the Capital ID back to Athens,
so follow the same steps as above, but this time for Greece region instead of Morea.
(also note that Region IDs change when ownership changes)
I've played through turn 50 with no bugs or crashes, but i suggest you save your game before each turn, as it may crash randomly

and injustice, but it would be disrespectful to the Ottomans.
Greece in 1700 was not independent.
disrespect to the British made
America in 1700 was not independent.
my friend Turkmen-Timur, as i posted above, in this mod am not interested in historical accuracy, i just posted a mod of my personal entertainment that i thought some other people would find enjoyable to play with Greece. After all it's just a game and nobody forced you to download this mod!
EDIT: I also dont understand what's the relevance of American Independence with this mod thread!

Nice work m8 and if you reskin the faction aswell it dosent have to be historic which means if you can get a skinner or do it yourself theres no limits as to what colours you can use as greece had no standing army at the time or i could be wrong but thx for another faction to play..
Maybe one could make Greece a protectorate of the Ottoman empire? It may not be historically correct, but more so than a fully independant Greece. It would certainly provide a great challenge for anyone wanting to play as them, and in my dictionary, challenge = fun. I haven't tried playing as a protectorate before, so I'm not certain what the game mechanics allow or won't allow you to do though.
I agree man leave. It its not offending anyone.I am turk and I'm ok with it
Its kinda pointless to say those words TÜRKMEN-Timūr.

Thnx guys, when I find some time I will invest in producing a more complete "Greek mod" with more uniqueness but I will need the help of some skinners and modders that know the thing well and actually I am waiting for the reply of some great Greek modders to help me!
As for the idea of making Greece a protectorate of the Ottomans, I think the Greeks if they have managed their independence, they would never settle for being protectorate of the Ottomans. But even so, it's not hard as far as I know to make Greece a protectorate of the Ottomans, it just needs one or two changes in the esf file...
P.S. As for my friend TURKMEN-Timur, please start making some more fruitful comments otherwise stop wasting our time
