Wales - look you.
Tidy
1. Norwegians
2. Irish
3. Wessex
I haven't played long campaigns with the other factions yet...I'd like to play Northumbria or Mercia, but they miss a really good looking heavy infantry like huscarls...I know historically...
northumbrians a good name and im from there to
I love the historical angle of leading Wessex and unifying England, but the most fun I've had by far is playing the Norwegians... Looting, pillaging, raiding, and trying to claw some permanent settlements away from the heathen Christians
I've only had the mod about 24 hours -- excellent work of course; as a big fan of FATW and the original Viking Invasion, this is a dream come true. But I've only played 3 factions: Northumbria and Wales a handful of turns each, and currently the Men of Alba. I'd say at the moment the latter are my favorite of the few I've tried. The jav cav are great units, and the army as a whole has a lot of flexibility. The position is also nice, as you're surrounded by a couple of factions but still have some breathing room before you come up against them.
In my campaign it's currently the 870s or so and I've just managed to secure 7 settlements, all north and east of the original starting position. I've just won some (I think) decisive battles against the Norse, and of course the Northumbrians chose this moment to betray me. I'm always saving up to build that next building or train that next couple of units, and always wondering whether I'm in a strong enough position to push forward into new territory. And the distance between settlements really makes every land grab a major expedition, just like the long-range campaigns fought in the actual period between, say, Penda and the Northumbrian kings. It's easy to feel isolated and alone in your little kingdom -- until those black banners appear over the horizon. Great work!
The Danes. Obviously. If I ever try another faction I will post about it with my alt account. I despise treason.
Norway is always the best faction to play with despite the rapid depletion of money at the start of the campagin!
ooo i dont know about that,i had a unit of berserks hit a saxon lot and one of them clumped the general so hard he flew through the air backwards for about 20 feet clearing his unit by about 8 feet. i laughed so much i nearly choked on me beer.this game gets better and better!

I'm holding out for 'VI III The Americas,' when I can play as the native tribes..
It could happen..
That part of the map only opens up if you become King of the British Isles and Scandinavia in or after AD 1000...

Bit hard to do that, they are not sentient and if the little birdie inside them is, then he probably ain't too aware of what's going on outside...
Yes, I know - terribleyolkjoke.
