Is it currently possible to mod in a new ability?

I'd like to see Howitzers and Mortars with a 'Target Ground' ability, allowing me to pick a perhaps oval shaped, no larger than a 3 line infantry formation, area of the map and let my arty blaze away at that one spot, or spots if I pick a new one, for the whole battle.

Allows for more direct micro management of the arty as well as the opinion to keep your arty from doing stupid things, like swiveling 180 degrees and 'accidentally' killing you general.
