Recruitment and technology requirements of all custom units and shipsSpoiler Alert, click show to read:
- All custom units and ships are limited because of the balance in the campaigns and that the AI doesn't spam the units too much.
- Not every faction has access to all units in all regions. You have to capture the related region, reach a certain building level and/or research a technology.
- All grenades have been removed from the custom Grenadiers, as the AI can't handle grenades good and the damage is too high. Because of this change, the unit size of the Grenadiers has been increased.
- removed the fire_and_advance and the platoon_fire_grouped drills from all custom units as the AI can't handle these abilities good. The firing drills of the vanilla units aren't changed.

- available in two versions: normal vanilla version / DARTH VADER's DarthMod Empire (DME)
- can be used with save games and you don't have to start a new campaign
- can be used together with other mods
Installation instructions:
1. download AUM-EMP vanilla version or the AUM-EMP Darthmod version and unpack the files to a folder
2. copy the file aum_emp_mod.pack (vanilla version) or DME_AUM.pack (Darthmod version) to your Empire data folder:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\empire total war\data
3. create or edit the file user.empire_script.txt in this folder: (there are example files included within the download)
C:\Users\Username\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Empire\scripts
You must save the script file in UNICODE. Open the script file with the Windows Text Editor and choose File > save as > coding > UNICODE.
Please put the AUM-EMP entry on top of the script file if you use other mods.
Add this line below if you play the VANILLA version:
mod aum_emp_mod.pack;
Add this line below on top of the list if you play the DARTHMOD version:
mod DME_AUM.pack;
If you use the DARTHMOD EMPIRE LAUNCHER, then you can edit the script file in the menu.
General information about the Windows Explorer:
It could be that your Windows Explorer doesn't show the file extension like .txt. This can be activated in the "Folder Options" of the Windows Explorer.
- Go to the settings in your Windows Explorer
- Go to the "Folder Options" > Tab "View"
- Scroll down until you see "Hidden Folders and Files"
- There you can enable "Hidden Folders, Files and Drives"
If you encounter any problems with the script file and AUM-EMP doesn't load, then you can try the Mod Manager by Mitch:

4. Language information:
The UPC-EMP mod is mandatory that the unit names and descriptions show up in the game. Empire will crash if you don't use UPC-EMP together with AUM-EMP.
You can switch your language in the Steam options of Empire.

If you use Darthmod, then you should remove the files DMUC_*languages*.pack from the Empire data folder as my latest UPC-EMP is newer. The engine can only load one custom language file at once.
Recommendations:
Create a backup of your save games before using AUM-EMP. If you install an unit pack and then play a campaign, the IDs of the custom units stay in the save game. If you remove later an unit pack in your ongoing campaign, then the save game can't be loaded correctly if there are recruited custom units in the armies from you or the AI.

If the custom battle screen crashes, then please remove all files in these two folders below:

Crash of the game:
If your game crashes you could re-download changed "vanilla" files and verify the integrity of the game:
> Open Steam > click on my games > right-click on Empire > left-click on properties > then look for the Local files tab and click on Verify the integrity of the game cache
There you can re-check the integrity of your Empire files. It takes some time, but after updating you have again all proper vanilla files.

- Which AUM-EMP version do you use? (vanilla / Darthmod)
- Which UPC-EMP language file do you use?
- Which units are affected?
- Campaign or custom battle problem?
- Is the error re-producable in any battle?
- Are there any other mods or re-texture packs installed?
- Please upload screenshots of your "data" folder, script file and if used Mod Manager
How to re-download changed "vanilla" files and verify the integrity of the game:Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
> Open Steam > click on my games > right-click on Empire > left-click on properties > then look for the Local files tab and click on Verify the integrity of the game cache
There you can re-check the integrity of your Empire files. It takes some time, but after updating you have again all proper vanilla files.
What to do if you don't see any unit names?Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
You have to install one UPC-EMP language file into your Empire data directory. Please be sure that only one language file is loaded at the same time in your directory. Please delete all older UPC-EMP or other language files from other mods.
- all mods which add custom units to Empire cause loading problems if you play a campaign and then remove the mod later.
AUM-EMP is fully save-game compatible and you don't need to start a new campaign. You can continue your ongoing campaign. But if you remove AUM-EMP, then your campaign save-game can't be loaded properly. This problem have all mods which add custom content.
