In 1.5, there will be 2 playable Hindu factions, right? I think one slot may therefore be vacant still.

In the origional BC you can easily have 2 playable hindu factions as well.

Technically, You can also make the Mongolians appear at the start of the game and have a player control the faction. It's real easy work.

That's true, but it is not how it was intended by the creators of the game.
Besides, neither of these will function too well in a hotseat, as the Chauhan would be too weak and the Mongols, too strong. Not to mention how ahistorical the Mongols would feel.
Hopefully, the new and fixed Chauhans will be fun to play in 1.5.

The Chauhan believe it are not are stronger than the other hindus, it's just that they are closer to the Ghorids. =p
