i do agree that this unit does not look like a late 19 century cav. of the Ottoman army. i checked if the Nizam cavalry did have cavalry unit s or not, and it turned out to be that they did. not sure if they would look like that during the early reform.

any way, the Albanian irregular looks awesome indeed. their heads look weird though?

don't know how the hell CA never thought of such unit. they played a big role in the Ottoman's army composition. they should've replaced those Isarelys. who the hell were they any away?

The cavalry unit in question is from Ottoman regular army from end of 19th century. In fact, they almost look like the cavalry units I have seen from an early 20th century oil painting (see Ottoman Court artist Fausto Zonaro's painting "Ertuğrul Süvari Alayı" below - circa 1901).

The word "Nizam" meaning order was adopted by the Turkish military tradition as to represent "regular". Even long after the Nizam-i Cedid was disbanded, the term nizam was still in use in Turkey and among ordinary people, Garrison entrances as still called 'nizamiye' to this day.

Ranger, thanks for the great pics. Are these from Osprey's Military books?

Nizam and Tunch Khan, are you using such resources for the modding? It would be magnificient to see such skins on Ottoman troops. I'd especially like to see more Nizam-I troops.

As I mentioned in the thread below:

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=250276

The Deli cavalry and Sipahis don't seem to fit much in a Nizam-I army. It would be brilliant if we could include the cavalry as posted by Tunch Khan (Ottoman Court artist Fausto Zonaro's painting "Ertuğrul Süvari Alayı" below - circa 1901).

In fact, I've given up on all Yeni Ceri / Janissary troops - I only field Nizam-I and artillery. The Sipahis and Delis I keep as well since there aren't any Nizam-I cavalry...

Great job everyone for the contributions and feedback. Much thanks to the modders for their hard work.

Nice Mod, I've installed it and it makes the Ottomans a lot better.

One thing though, erm a lot of the Ottoman units particulerly line ones have smaller unit numbers than their potential opponents I play at large unit size, and Nizam's and Iraely's (forgive my poor spelling) have only 120 to answer to the 150 of standard line european line infantry. Is this intentional?
Who cares if we don't learn from History, its bloodly interesting.

Please post an English translation version of the mini mod. I'd love to be able to use just the skins with Imperial Splendour.

Is this compatible with the lastest patch? All I really want is the whiter skin retextures to make them look like Turks instead of really dark Indians or something. Also, is it compatible with existing saves?
