Thread: Conquest Total War (1000 A.D. - 1400 A.D.)

  1. #1

    Default Conquest Total War (1000 A.D. - 1400 A.D.)

CLOSED UNTIL MODDING TOOLS COME OUT

    Introduction

    Hello and Welcome Everyone,

For Many people, The current timeframe of Empire: Toal War is a boring and dull period of history. I am one of those people. I have always enjoyed total war games that focused in earlier eras. I loved to play as a king in the chaotic enviorment that was the European Middle ages. I have Had ETW sence it first came out, and I have enjoyed the improved AI, the new graphics, and the many new features in this Toal war game. The one thing that is missing is the timeframe. I come to you today to propose a new conversion mod of ETW. This Mod will take place between 1000 A.D. and 1400 A.D., A time when the Vikings terrorized Europe, The Normans took control of England, Mighty Kings waged wars, and Europe became what it is today.

    Why Do It?

Some people might ask "why not just play MTW 2?" or "why go through the hassle of making a coversion mod?". Well the answer is simple. Empires Total war is a great game to mod compared to the last total war games. Unlike any TW game before, we have no hardcoded limits. We can make as many provences as we want, as many unit models we want, as many factions we want... the list goes on. MTW 2 is very limited and anyone who has played it know that its AI is terrible, graphics are O.K. (but nothing compared to ETW), and cities are limited. ETW gives us modders a chance to create the mod of our dreams.

    Goals

My goal in this Mod is to recreate the Middle Ages. I want to take the Empires industrial enviorment and turn it into a exciting, Bloody, Midieval battleground that you, the player can take control of and become a true King.

I would Fist like to start off with Europe, and mabe move towards Asia/India/Africa in a later release. With no Hard coded limits, ETW is the best game to Mod into a super game of Midieval Europe.

    The Team

This is the team so far, Feel free to PM me if you would like to join!:

    Modders Needed

As many of you can guess, I will need more than Just me to make this Mod.

I can personally make 2-D Artwork (including Character Portraits, Building Pictures, and Unit Description Pictures), Unit descriptions, I am very well versed in this eras history (so historian), very basic scripting. and basic file edititng (like the Desc_Strat in the previous TW game series)

I have assembled a small team of 6, and I am now looking for a Modelers, Coders, and Mapmaker.

If you would like to join please put what you can do and if you have had any other modding experince. Please do this in a PM or a post below!

Omayyad rule in Iberia has gone on too long. For hundreds of years Christians have been subject to the rule of the Muslim Caliphate, and the Kings of Asturias have vowed to fight back. When King Alfonso the Great died in 910, he left his kingdom between his three sons. García, the eldest, became King of León. The Omayyads no longer hold lands outside of Iberia, having been ousted by the Abbasids. This is the perfect time to strike, furthering the rightful reconquest of Christian lands. A King with cunning, guile, and skill on the battlefield is needed to fight off not only the obvious threats from the Caliphate to the south, but also the surrounding and competing Kingdoms formed by the split of Asturias.

-Duchy of normandy (vassal of france)
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The Constant raids in northern France from the Vikings had finally driven the Frankish King ,Charles the Simple ,to give lands to a Nordic Viking cheiftan named Rollo, in order to place a buffer zone between the hostile Viking raiders and his Kingdom. These men are Vikings though, not ready to be bought off with a tiny peice of land. Rollo and his Viking followers surely wanted more land, even if it cost them their blood. It is the year 1000 A.D. now, and the Normans have changed their way of life. They are no longer like their viking ancestors, The only thing left in them from their Viking heritage is their hunger for Conquest.

-County of Toulouse (vassal of france)
-County of Brittany (vassal of france)

    emergeant:county of Aquitaine,Dauphine,County of Anjou,County of Champagne.

    Germany ,italy and central europe:

    -Holy Roman empire
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
During the turmoil that was the fall of Rome, one people managed to form a great empire on the remains of the Roman Gaul. The Franks carved their nation through great conquest and stalwartly defense, yet it grew bloated and spread thin. When Louis the Pious, son to the great Charlemagne, finally died in 843, his sons divided the empire into three separate Kingdoms: the West, Middle, and East. Louis the German was King of East Francia, establishing the Carolingian dynasty over the German people.

By 911, the Kingdom is in steep decline. Louis the Child, the last of the eastern Carolingians, had just died, and the dukes met in Diet to choose not a Frank but a German to lead them. King Conrad has much to do if he should be able to save his beloved domain. Threats come from all sides, as the Western Kingdom expands eastward and talks of a new Germanic Kingdom rise from his Dukes. It will take a strategic mastermind to grip down on the mutinous duchies and repel the threats from West Francia before even beginning to think of expansion. - Thanks to Provocateur (Great Job!)

    -Roman empire
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The great glory of the Roman Empire may have faded in the minds of the Western Europeans, but in the grand city of Constantinople, it burns as bright as ever. Carrying the Imperial banner for more than half a millennia, the Byzantine rulers have fought and overcome many foes to retain their position as a military superpower at the gates of Christendom. Although the court of the Roman Empire is conducted in Greek, the spirit of the Caesars is carried on.

Despite the Empire’s gradual loss of its territories around the Mediterranean and in Italy, it was as strong as ever in Greece and Anatolia. Many recent campaigns have been made against Arab strongholds in the east which should rightfully belong to the Empire. But the Empires borders are far from secure. The Abbasid Caliphate’s powerful hosts and hungry eyes look toward the west, and the Bulgarian King Simeon I’s armies already march on Byzantine land. It will take a masterful General, skilled both in the ways of war and diplomacy to keep the Empire from succumbing to these foreign threats, as well as those from within.

I can help as a researcher, I know quite a bit about the period...
I was just wonderign why you wanted to start it during the dark ages, when many of the more medieval factions hadn't fully formed?

It will be great to have you on the team! Just PM me and Ill start a Team members list on the first post

I wanted to start in the dark ages for a few reasons. One reason is because there are not that many mods that cover that era, another reason being it was a exciting and turbulent period of time, when new Kingdoms, such as Normandy, came into existence. It will give the player a chance to start from the very beginning of the faction of their choice.
