They are both good, although IS2 is smaller/easier/quicker to download and install.
Having played both extensively, and started off with IS as my first mod, I would agree with the parts I have underlined and bolded, but not regards installation, the DMUC has an auto extracter so once downloaded it basically installs itself

Out of interest when did you last try DMUC?, I would strongly suggest that you take a look at the latest DMUC 8.0 beta, especially Naval combat

For those wishing a more unique experience in terms of unit/country than the majors I would also highly recommend http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...44#post8193344 Causa Belli an addition for the DMUC

As to which is better, that is down to preference and opinion - I like and play both, I play DMUC more.

But as Tango has also said there are a number of excellent MODs for ETW, try them and your own preference may not be IS or DMUC

Hey guys, does anyone know where I can find some of the faction retextures used in DMUC as individual mods? Especially the Russian retexture by Hellfire.

Im just using DM at the moment but am adding in a few other visual enhancement mods to get a kind of balance between the two versions.

    Thanks!

Hi Teutonik - I think you have two potential options, in the DMUC credit list as you know the relevant MOD add ons are listed, and their creators credited. You could search their profile and find their thread that way. You may have issues with them obviously not being adpated for DM, and it is possible that the link may no longer be active.

The other and probably simpler option would be to download the DMUC as essentially strip out the MOD packs you want, might take a little work but will probably be easier in the long run

hey hammeredalways, thanks for your response

Searching individual profiles was my initial thought as well but its proved tricky tracking a lot of them down. And as you say, lots of unactive links around the place!

I think in that case getting DMUC and stripping it down a bit is probably what I will do, it will be worth the work. I only recently started using mods for Empire and am astonished at the vast improvements it makes to the game!

I'm curious about the current mod situation for Empire. I have a particular taste in mods and I prefer solutions that tweak gameplay, add to the visual experience and fix bugs/issues introduced in the original game. This is one reason why I used Darthmod Lite (I think that's what it was called) which only included the AI/Battle fixes and such rather than installing the full version. I'm not even sure if that sort of mod still exists but if it does I'll probably look into using it. Bear in mind though that's not what I'm here to inquire about.

What I want to know (well primarily) is if there are any mods that set out to fix the unit rosters for minor factions in ETW, without necessarily adding new units, skins, factions and what have you. As you probably know CA really dropped the ball on the minor factions in Empire to the degree that Dagestan, for example, could recruit practically any unit from any roster. To the best of my knowledge that was never fixed. I worked on that sort of thing a while back but now that I'm working full time I don't have the interest to fix it myself again.

I'm also curious if some of the more annoying AI issues that were present in Empire have been dealt with at all; for instance the AI passivity when it was gifted a region was always an issue for me and I wonder if anything happened on that front. Anyway, not much else to say at this point. As I've said I'm interested in fixes not total conversions and I'm not sure if any such thing exists for Empire at this point. Thought I'd see if anyone could point me in the right direction. Cheers!

Total noob here. I used to do the modding for Rome myself, just minor tweaks here and there, but Empire just confuses me.

Now I'm currently playing as the Hurons and the Subsistence Farming thing bugs me because my towns won't grow. How do I mod the game so as to allow the Hurons (and preferably all Indian factions) to have access to the later farm upgrades? What program will let me edit the files, which files to edit and so on.

Hi Shiakou, - welcome to the forums

this programme DB Editor will allow you to edit ETW tables
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=280329

This is a tutorial explaining the various elements of the above, I would strongly suggest having a look through and of course before you edit anything, make a back-up
    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=291282

In terms of the tables, I would expect that the following is most likely
    building_culture_variants

however you may find it easier to modify the following tables

    building_effects_junction

with additional increases, this would be quicker and simpler

I would also suggest a good look through this section, which is filled with tools and tutorials

Hi meshi, - I can highly recommend the DMUC, and if you like large scale battles make sure you check out the 40 unit option, combined with Darths AI, and the larger unit sizes it makes your battles epic

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=552866

You should find Maratha challenging, but not overpowered, indeed in my last two campaigns the Mughals have elimininated them.

Currently the DMUC is at beta 41 stage, with version 8.0, it is well worth playing

Thanks a bunch mate. I just messed around a bit and gave Gunsmiths +2 recruitment slots, +15 pop growth, + 10 happiness to everyone, then balanced it off by making them ten times as expensive.

I think I'll keep the original land units; as long as I can get enough of an economy going to support it, using zergrush tactics with natives is very much fun.

    Hello Guys,
I am starting to play ETW again and i was wondering which of the general overwhaul mods i should take.
I am planning to play as Portugal and in general my interests are:

    - Battle AI
    - All factions playable
    - Minor factions upgraded

    and:
    - Smoke would be nice
    - To be relatively "Bug free" is always important

So would it be DMUC for me? or TI? or IS? And wich Submods would be most useful to them?

    Hi Berak Eisenfaust,

I think all the Mod's you mention are good, though the one that should fit your bill the best is the DMUC, it has excellent BAI (and CAI), and options for all factions playable as well as many minors upgraded.

In terms of sub-mods I would highly recomend Causa Belli, it has some excellent new units for Portugal from Geronimo2006

er... that may have gotten away on me a bit...

But IS2 is good for getting your feet wet and might be enough for a good while. ETW isn't exactly an ADD type of game. People do tend to put some serious hours into it, so it's no cryin' shame if someone wants to spend 6 months or a year with one mod before moving to another. Or switch back. Or whatever. Just so long as there's delicious creamy, velvety.... well I think I can stop there...

This is a funny opinion. The first MOD I used was DMUC. Its comprehensive with lots of changes with allows for some personal choices on what you want or not want to include. However, after playing for awhile, it was lacking for me. Its too manufactured. It has everything and nothing all at the same time. I, then chose to go with IS because it had a clear vision towards historical accuracy. It is also planning on incorporating some of the best possible features that anyone will want with a MOD. It is also not shallow,... it has a depth-ness compare to Darthmod similar to what a 'point by a number' painting is to a Rembrandt work of art. To claim it is "get your feet wet MOD" ignores the central fact that both MODs take decidedly different approaches to the degree of depth- ness. No one that "loves" Darthmod will appreciate MODFs like IS, APE:TI, European Wars etc,.... they all take very different approaches (European Wars is more like IS than not).

I agree with one thing,.... You can switch... I did... and I did it for greater depth- ness and not for a lighter experience.

It will depend on what you are looking for in a MOD in order to recommend one to you.

I'm obviously an exception to that rather sweeping statement. I just preferred the DM gameplay (and still do).
