There was little interest as there was little going on here. Most of the TWC-members are not really into programming and/or 3D-Modelling. Additionally many hoped for CA up to now.
And with no one telling he is working on it, it is a little boring to just check here and see poeple asking for progress into the blue.

The main question is, if someone is willing and able to work on such a converter. You might need some programming skills, but most of all i think very good knowlage of 3DS-skripts, as this seems to be the programm CA used. Mayby it don't need to be 3DSmax, but as i'm not really into 3D-modelling, i can't say.

Not at all, this thread has had tons of publicity if you look at 7 pages for it. I don't know why but people just don't seem to care about this too much; especially if they get units from CA.

You can't expect the regular visitor to bother looking up threads that discuss tools in the making. That's like 3 steps removed from an actual mod. People do want mods, that's why so many visit this forum, and you simply won't have any mods without the tools.

As for CA's marketing schemes, they certainly won't satisfy anyone that's ever played a mod for a total war game.

Yes, sadly the gamers just don't care about new mods, actually they're willing to pay for DLC and on total-war-zone.de you even get beaten up only for critizising the non-release of modding tools that were mentioned by jack lusted to be released.

Since Patch 1.3 the one half of the gamers could play the game, the other half has CTD's all the time and some new units would not take the attention away of the lousy state the game is still in, CA changes the Campaign KI, well instead of doing nothing it now makes war without any sense, wuerttenberg attacks austria?! Haha! Thats great KI...

I don't really know why CA and SEGA treats the modders - who make them what they are - this way, it's all about money?! Then good night!

that's just because they dont realise that without modders they wont be able to perfect the game in upcoming updates because they wont be getting feedback from modders' work, plus i know lots of people who wont buy the game till they know that game is stable/playable and there are nice mods to play with!!

There are a lot of good things about DLC. From a business perspective, it doesn't have to be an either/or when it comes to DLC vs modding. One can build on the other. Heck, why not make a map editor and sell it for $?

Don't give CA such ideas of paying for the tools. Mayby if the DLC hype is over they realise them and offer us tools for money. I mean the time nobody plays ETW anymore...

Yes some words about a converter by a TWC member would be much appreciated.

About DLC and Tools: DLC must not be a bad thing, but can be, if this means you can't really mod anymore. And in case of ETW the signs from CA look bad for us....

No, but I gave all the required information, it's mostly programming to a spec now, any programmer should be able to write a converter.

Well I really don't know about the coding of converters, but maybe has to write down the filetypes and restrictions from what format to format the conversion should be able. That would make a request more easier...and for a skilled programmer ist should be no prob to change a sourcecode of any old modelconverter, so that it would run for our purposes.

    I've started working on one,
though I can only work on weekends when I'm on leave, and that's not much time, since I enjoy spending my home time drinking with friends in the local pub.
    Next weekend off is 11/7.
    Have fun in the meanwhile.

It was the dumb way the pawns went off and slaughtered their fellow pawns while the kings lounged about doing nothing that always got to him; if only the pawns united, maybe talked the rooks around, the whole board could've been a republic in a dozen moves. -Thud!, Terry Pratchett

Could we help you out? Maybe do your drinking for you while you program?
